The sensor wires that run into the ecu are spliced, then a APEXI SAFC piggy back technically lie's to the ecu giving a different HZ ratio responce. Either telling the engine to dump more fuel or give more air. You program what is called throttle correction by bypassing the MAF sensor signal. You don't have to be completely modded for an SAFC, it is reprogramable, a JWT ECU isn't.
SAFC on ebay for $265.00 shipped, but it needs to be dyno tuned.
JWT ecu $500, and not recomended unless you have completely moded your engine.
SAFC stands for Super Air to Fuel Controller.

Venom isn't a wise choice in my opinion it only allows a limited range of fuel to air when you stomp on the pedal and go above 3000RPM.

20-25CHP is usually seen with the APEXI SAFC. Yes I have one but it needs to be dyno tuned.
Rough estimate and don't quote me on this but I have seen 30 -55 HP gains depending on the type of fuel system, and high compression pistons, I believe cams are neccessary also to achieve that kind of power....

If you use stock cams on a modified fuel system more than likely the engine will run rich and won't pass smog.

not worried about smog, tn dont do any of that here, i dont even have a cat. on the car. so i still need i have on the list:

ka24e forged cp pistons
crower connecting rods
ca18de titanium retainers
apexi safc
performance cams
fuel pump
injectors
and also going with a new stage 3 clutch master (centerforce dual. giving in)
and another $1500 to put it in

so im still looking at $4500 with install. wow, i will have around 300hp at the wheels though. it will take a little while to get that money up, i lay marble, granite, and tile for a living and live in tn so things are cheap here. so i should have it all in 2 months after bills, including install. what do you think of jwt cams?

wow, a tennessee member trifecta.

don't know where greenville is but if its close to nashvegas give me a shout.

and to your original question, i'm in agreement with those above that your pretty safe getting the next size up pistons. unless your cyl walls are in bad shape and requies more than the standard overbore your golden.
