a glasspack is just a canister muffler with fiberglass insulation. they dont really do much in terms of noise suppression. a baffled muffler would still be your best bet i think.

Yeah, I'm getting a baffled muffler put in tomorrow morning, it's the flowmaster one(most quiet one I could find that would work w/ my car, rated at "Mild" levels). My brother offered to buy it for free so I can't loose Wish me luck, i'll let you guys know how it went

Can anyone help me out... I went to a local import shop and had them install obx headers, a dynomax hi-flow cat, 2.5" mandrel bent piping all the way back to a dual tip straight-through muffler. So far it was the worst $450 I ever spent. It sounds like crap. Not bad until you really give it some gas and around 3000rpm it gets super raspy and just plain shtty. It also seems that my low-end power has decreased. I have heard that a resonator might not do much for NA cars. Is my only option to try different mufflers.... or I don't know. Anybody got any ideas?

$450!?!?! That's a lot of money man! THe headers are like 250 ain't they? I got my piping done and including a Magnaflow CatBack for $113. You know, my exhaust is getting quieter now, I can't explain why, but it's getting really bassy, it get's raspy only when I push the hell out of it now, I'm actually starting to like it. I even took off the silecer. You just gota give them some time to break in. OBX headers? I haven't heard good stuff from them myself. I got Hotshot headers, they kick ***! my car pulls soo much harder now. Try to run the car a bit longer like that, give it some time to break them in. Make sure you check for welding holes too!! even a small little hole can sound like hell! Also ask for glass packs, they can help tame the exhaust, I might have one installed on monday, maybe even a new muffler, i'll let you know!

you guys should stop by your local school and see if the music teacher has a db meter, and see if he can come out and read your exhaust... I'd like to know just how loud this stuff really is. I'm looking at the headers and such, but now I'm scared... my car is loud as fack with just a canister exhaust on it.

I just installed a Magnaflow resonator............ Oh My Fuc*ing GOD! IT's GREAT!!!! I can't belive it works as good as it does! My exhaust is almost DEAD quiet now! It killed about 90% of all the noise in my exhaust, it sounds like if air is coming out now! it's awsome! THe harder I push the car, the quieter it gets! amazing! For those of you who have headers and no cats, try it! it's the magnaflow http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/ss02.htm
I got the 4 inches one on top in 2 1/4 piping, i HIGHLY recommend it! I love my car's exhaust now! my muffler is a 5ZIegen btw.

haha, I just hope I didn't sound like a damn sales person, but i'm excited as hell, I was about to pull the muffler too, but no need anymore .

hey original poster guy, iThink a BRM exhaust (they use magnaflow mufflers afaik) with a big (they can get you up to a 22" long one) resonator at 2.5 or 3" would be perfect for you.
