Rough idle..any suggestions?

It started just last week as I would be at idle and the idle would start to fluctate a lil. Rough idle as I came home today and the exhaust smelt like a rotten egg. I can hear the valves making a lil noise and it sounds like I might have to pull off the vavlve cover to do a lil investigating. The EGR valve sounds like a good place to start and inspect. Any other suggestions?

The smell might be caused by a rotten cat....Recommend replacing that, should get rid of that smell...after that... check the condition of your O2 sensor on your header... Worth a shot.....

check your injectors to see if they arent clogged, ur spark plugs, and check your distributor coil

From: The OC, it's getting HOTTER!
I changed my sparks, fuel filter, and did a SEAFOAM cleaning into the crankscase, fuel tank and brake booster hose! IDLE improved, but still need to rev it right when it starts, and idle is still jumpy when slowing down but it is steady at 800rpms when stopped so. It helps. I am gonna change out my O2 sensor, and besides from that I dunno what else to try to fix it except adjust the idle on the motor itself

Depending upon how rough the idle is you could have one of your cylinders not working. this happened to my car once because somehow water got in it from washing my car and stopped it from working so it shook at idle like a crappy muscle car that hasn't been takin care of, i guess you could check that too... just a suggestion.

well I cleaned the maf again and pured some more seafoam. Changed the cap and rotor after checking the plugs. The plugs looked like they weren't getting enough spark. After changing the cap and rotor, the idle was all good. Car runs strong.
