Thumbs up S14 Ka Vs. 93 Prelude Si

S14 KA24DE- 155 hp 160 torque

Prelude 2.2 Dohc Vtec- 190 hp 158 torque

Im new here and I'm supposed to be getting a S14 next month. My other car is a 92 GSX (Mildly modded). I want an NA for reliability and I've always wanted a RWD car. But my question is...Obviously the Honda motor is stronger with Vtec, but I wanna know if a KA24 with Cams, CAI, headers, Exhaust, a Big front Lip, fat wing, deep rims, can hang with a Lude with similar mods?

j/k about the exterior mods....

What kind of racing are you talking about. All out drag war or something with twist and turns. Your answers can vary depending on what kind of racing you want to do. Also look into wieght issues. The 240 is not a light car.

Well my boy Rollyn has the H22a JDM swap, spoon ecu, and larger injectors. Defenitely wouldn't say that because it has Vtec it makes it a stronger motor. VTEC just shifts the duration and lift between the cam and valve while advancing the timing to pull some higher top end numbers, thats about it.
I have a decently modded KA, and off the line I spank him. Come to think about it my car womps in almost every gear. The body weight between the lude and 240 are relatively the same, the Honda just runs less degredation from having front wheel drive, (I believe something like 12% degredation on the lude, and 15% degredation loss for the 240).
With your basic breather bolt ons and an ecu tune the KA womps hard on a H22 just due to the fact it uses more toque than the H22.
An H22 runs a higher CR than the KA also H22 runs a compression of 10.1:1, the KA runs a compression of 9.5:1.
If you just swapped sohc pistons into the DOHC you would get a compression of 11.1:1. Obviously you can see the potential between the 2 engines. With the KA utilizing a lower CR to begin with it still makes big numbers that can compete very easily with an H22a.

Big V. You seem to know ALOT about engines. Did you go to school for this or have you just picked it up along the way. Half the time I read your responses I haven't got a clue as to what your saying. Can you lead me in a direction as far as books or sites that I can learn what the hell your talking about.

What I want to know is how fast and strong this motor can be with just typical bolt on's versus the competition. What is your 1/4 time Vinnie? and what are people with NA S14's average times? if there is a link please show me.

I read alot of books in my spare time. I self educate myself, wyotech didn't work for me.
There are plenty of books on engine dynamics, and principles. If it has under 100 pages DON'T Buy it there is alot to know....

Well average 1/4mile time for a base all stock KA24de s14 is about a 16.2, KA24de s13 is about 16.1.
I have an s13 with almost all bolt ons and removal of some restrictive internals, ran a 1/4 mile time of 15.3. This year I have added an ecu tune, and a few more mods, no cams or High Compression yet. Shooting for a 14.8~ (flat 15.00).
100shot of NOS can put the KA24de into the mid13's, the compression is perfect for possibly a 150shot, with no detonation.

Well i raced a 97 5 speed Prelude SI and they are kind of quick for stock, but i still won......and i was stock at the time.....i only won by 1/2 car, but a win is a win........

The KA sucks *** for a dead stop race.....but when your going about 30mph or 40mph.....the kick ***.
