short throw s13

ok i got a b and m short throw shifter a while back and just got around to installing it. now i have searched all over and read all the forums about installing them and no one had a problem but me of course (just kidding) but the car is 14 years old, and the shifter was never even thinking of coming out. so now after i have removed the 6 bolts and actually went through the steps oh so carefully in the b and m instructions to "remove shifter" it dosn't want to come out. is there some sort of special thing i have to do? i have tried pry-bars, screw drivers, and alot of other things. just whenever i go and try to pry it out the whole transmission moves with it like its super glued together.

thanks,
sam

well i got the old stock one out, but i cant seem to get the new one in. the white piece on the bottom that fits into the shift mechanism wont go in, i was thinking to switch it with the stock one, but cant get that off. also the gasket is crap on mine so i need to RTV silicon it.

thanks,
sam

Put the old shifter back in and make sure it is in neutral. I just installed a shrot throw shifter also and ran into the same problem. I put it in second to get some on the bolts out and forgot to put it back in neutral. When it was in second, the new one wouldn't fit. Once I put it back in neutral, it went in without any problems.
