Sohc Chain Guide Issues
Ok i just got hold of another 12v.
I got it home to start cleaning and what not... the guy i got it from recommended putting in a new timing chain....
So i started looking down inside the motor with the valve cover off. And low and behold.. from the front looking down (drivers side) i notice the chain guide possibly missing and what looks like a small metal dowel sticking out (worn out from the chain)... is that easily replaced? of course with the timing cover off...coments concerns ideas?? thanx

Yep, Once you have the timing cover off it is pretty striaght forward. Make sure you have a Chilton's or better yet a Factory Service Manual to follow. Make sure you replace everything once you are in there. (Chain guides, Chain, Tensioner, and both cam and crank gears) I am in the process of rebuilding my head because, I thought I could get away with not doing the chain. oops lol
