sudden loss of power

hey guys, decided to ask for some forum assistance on this lil prob. well my car has a rough idle to begin with due to bad injectors (currently saving up for some rebuilt ones). anywho. today i was driving it to work and it was a lot rouhger than anything ive experienced. the car felt like it was about to stall and die plus it made nearly no power. the engine wouldnt rev up at all past 3k and acceleration was worst than a bicycle. any ideas?

edit: new plugs, oil, air & fuel filters and 02 sensor. car is stock

Your alternator may be taking a dump, could be the alternator belt also...

the coil is on the drivers front shock tower... follow the spark plug wire comming out of the center post on your distributor to where it plugs into the coil... that is where you will find it...

Its your alternator. My car did the same thing changed it and problem fixed, I also went threw the touble shooting of replacing cap and rotor, but it ended up being a bad alternator

befor you start swappin alternators... does the car crank over or does it just click... if the battery is always dead then i would go with the alternator...if it cranks over then i would think of other things besides the alternator... if the alternator was bad or going bad you would have a drained battery all the time...

to be honest with you befor you can even start to troubleshoot all of the problems you need to fix the bad injectors... that is the first step in trying to cure a rough run situation... the fuel injectors could be completely bad now...

a safe way to check your fuel pump is to turn on the key... do not try to start ...and listen for it to hum... it will run for a few seconds when you frst turn the key on... i would suggest having someone turn on the key while you are standing at the back of the car by the fuel fill door with the gas cap off... you will hear the pump run for a few min then stop... thats what it is suposed to do...

from there if it works then it shold be fine... if not then you have a problem there... but you still need to fix the injectors befor anything else...
