is it possible to swap the dohc head from a 91 onto a sohc car from 1990?

I believe it is but I'm not sure.

I know that SOHC pistons will fit into a DOHC bottom end, so I would think that the head swap would work.

I believe it would arent they basically the same engines just one dual and one single cam?

some one posted their attempt of this a while back somewhere. They were not completly finished but the only known complication was that the lower chain tensioner was blocked by a peice of the block. They said they just had to machine(grind) it off.
It didn't look real difficult as it was basically just the KA24E Block with al the KA24DE parts attached to it.

After all is said and done (parts, labor, mix-n-match headaches, etc.) I'd think it would be cheaper and easier to just get a used KA for $200-$300 instead.

yea but my ka only has 52k. im not gonna find one with 52k for $300 bucks. im not sure. im gonna be either turboing my ka or just gettin a sr20det

so go KA24E, people have done it. with 52K you could go without rebuilding if you ran 6-8 psi if the compression is good.
