tach acting up

tach acting up

my tach will not go past 3 grand on my stock 96 240sx. the tach gets to 3 and just stays there or kinda bounces. what is this and how can i fix it?o and its the original tach

is it just the tach, or will the engine not rev beyond 3k?

Try pushing in the connections better, or try a different tach. Or hit the insturment cluster.

also try yelling at it while you hit it. that helps.




no but seriously, i had a problem similar to this, i took the cluster out to inspect, i unplugged/replugged connections, then never had a problem with it again. so i suspect that it was just a loose connection. good luck.

i have had problems with my tach as well. but mine works whenever it wants too. some days it works some days it doesn't. and it has been doing this ever since i changed my clutch?? i thought maybe it has something to do with my flywheel sensor located at the top on my bellhousing? so maybe this could be your problem too? im not really sure tho?? sorry i couldn't be more help..
