tops out at 112?!?
i have done almost everything but c/o with jim wolf, i did add a switch to the speedo and take out the 4 sencers on top and was able to get to the 120 mark, but still wants to cut, think its in the tach myself, or all 240s have mind of there own. anyway my opinion just buy upgraded ecu and save yourself the trouble.
So scary it's cool!!!
So I just got through upgrading my suspension system (Tien coilovers of course) I get my brakes upgraded (Brembo cross-drills with ceramic pads in the front and gold-laced ceramics in the back from PBX Racing)
Then I stumble across this page. I'm a drifter so I don't normally see speeds exceeding 115 nor do I have a purpose to. But the curiosity effect simply overpowered my better judgement.
I perform the modification. I remove the rev-limiters and make the connections to a switch in my center console for the speed-limiter.
I take my car up to 117 in 4th gear! AWESOME!
BAM! Speed limiter hits, OOPS! So I bring it back up, still in 4th gear. Then hit the switch! I immidiately begin cackling as I watch the speedo drop to zero whilst the car continues to accel.
I reach 6000 RPMS in 4th gear and I'm having a blast. My mind is racing wondering just how fast I am going at this point as my car is STILL accelerating. (Take that honda)
I then remember . . . wait . . .I have a 5TH GEAR!!!! A JEAH!
DO-MO AR-I-GA-TO extreme accel in 5th gear is tight.
I was amazed that my NA KA24E engine was pulling like it was. It's like I unlocked some kinda beast from the depths of a mysterious cavern.
I feel my chest begin to tighten, and the eprinephrins known as adrenaline begin to drip into my blood stream from my adrenal glands.
I don't know how fast I'm going at this point, but I didn't care!
All I know is that this speed was INCREDIBLE! Almost orgasmic!
I sashee` pass a Dodge Neon and continue on my voyage of acceleration. I'm nearing 5600 RPMS when I glance at my dash, and then immediately turn my attention back to the road ahead.
My heart rate increases to astonishing rates and tunnel vision, which had began to take effect several minutes ago, is dominating my view of the road. But all the while the need for more adrenaline, the most addictive drug on the face of the planet, is clouding my judgment as a push on.
My feet and legs go numb as I bury the accelerator through the floor panel.
My car is screaming out cries of joy and pain simultaniously.
I crest a hill and 150-400 yards in front of me is a white Mazda truck. THANK GOD FOR MY UPGRADES TO THE DRIVETRAIN.
DOWNSHIFT:
The stage 2 clutch kicks in and grabs my aluminum flywheel and begins slowing the vehicle down drastically. Flames shoot at distances exceeding 5 feet from my exhaust as my rich-runner SKYLINES its 4th gear RPMS and they plumbet back into their normal range.
BRAKES:
The fact that I don't have anti-lock brakes has trained my right foot well, and it was apparent that night. I threshold the pedal and I can almost hear my cross-drills cry as they are put to their first true test of stopping power.
More flames continue to spit and spatter as the pitch black road is illuminated red, white, orange and blue in my rear-view mirrors.
I almost become one with the steering wheel as the car rapidly decelerates.
ACTIONS:
I steer into the next lane and, for some unexplainable reason, turn my speed limiter back on to view that I am slowing through the speeds of 80 and below.
I ease off of the brakes and allow the car to coast past the vehicle at 75 miles per hour.
WHAT NEXT:
I then take my vehicle off of the Glebe RD exit South. And head back to base.
I get on base and explain to my buddy, whose an MP and working the gate that night, what I did. He calls me crazy, like he always does, and I continue on my way.
AFTER EFFECTS:
Nothing to drastic, just the normal post-adrenaline jitters and shakes that everyone experiences.
MORAL:
This mod is awesome. I never had so much fun in such a short time outside of drifting in my life. Maybe this will open the doors to David Adams: Street racer. I don't know. I'm not too crazy about street racing.
WILL I DO IT AGAIN?:
YEP. It's totally fun, but I'll try to find a more deserted stretch of road first.
Take care,
Dave

ok so cutting the yellow/green stripe wire kills the speed limiter... but the 4th and 5th gear sensors will still limit your speed?? is it the same speed?
maybe a resistor can be wired inline to trick the computer. or maybe find those wires leading to the ecu.. or maybe cutting the one wire fixes it all?? damn i need a freakin FSM

Thats what I did. I have a 93 240sx with an auto trany and it stoped at 118, then i cut that yellow/green wire from the ECU on the pasenger side and problem solved, but it only gets to 128 now. If you really want to go really fast, then cut the wire that comes from a litle rounded sensor at the end of the transmission(were it meets the driveshaft) and have a swithc for it inside, run some wires. This will defenetly cut the limiter, but U will have no idea what is the speed you are going. when i did this,it went to 138.(how do I know if the speed sensor didn't worked?) I switched it on and off briefly.

that's if you don't want to cut anywire

All I did was cut the yellow/green wire, I didnt disconect the 4th/ 5th gear connectors from the tranny. Could this explain the speed increase of a few mph, still with the cut or would I need the jim wolf ecu (600 bux OUCH)
^all you did was cut the wire and it removed your speed limiter?? it is the yellow/green stripe wire correct? cuz i cut mine and like i said i couldn't go over like 80mph, 3500rpm 5th gear and 4500rpm 4th gear
yeah it was the yellow/green wire for the speed senor. I cut it near the ECU. I used the fsm , and followed the wire. my car runs and drives fine, but it only raised the limit, not eliminating it like i hoped
i'm thinking only the 91+ ECU's can use this feature.. tomorrow i am gonna jack up my car and remove the 4th and 5th gear sensors, then recut the ecu wire then go for a spin wiht my newly installed intake filter. lol. and see what arises from it... i'm afraid to get under this rust bucket
