Question Tune up info needed.

I've got word that the Injen CAI is the best way to go as far as intake is concerned BUT that's 200+ dollars for just that, which will get ditched when the turbo will come.

Instead I was thinking about doing a bit of tune up by getting some Iridium plugs, uprated wires, 300ZX fuel filter, and a replacement performance fuel filter. K&N is usually a safe bet but lately i've seen ads for both Green Filter and a Holley airfilter.

Has anyone seen heard anything good/bad about them? The Green filter seems appealing weighing in at 15 bucks cheaper then the K&N (which can get me an airbox breather on top of that) and apparently has a good racing pedigree (WRC, WSC, F1 etc. . .) for the Holley i've heard nothing about it but should be pretty good considering Holley's extensive experience with carburators and air/fuel delivery.

Any info/help/suggestion is as always appreciated.

eagle 5 tune up

Eagle 5, go with the cheaper filter so you save for the turbo. You're going to have upgrade all your tune-up stuff anyway, so replace only want you need to.

Yeah don't waste your money on a lot of that stuff. Plug wires only need to be replaced when they get corroded, they're rated for like 400,000 miles. Nissan makes VERY good wires so "upgraded" ones won't make any difference only your wallet will be lighter. Don't waste money on a 300zx filter either. Only buy it if it's cheaper than the 240sx filter. It gives you no performance increase. What you should get though is a new distributor cap and rotor and just a regular set of NGK plugs and you'll be good.

Oh one more thing!

For just a replacement filter is it better to use a generic cone filter and lose the airbox/ram-air combo or just get a replacement panel since I can't get a CAI?

Thanks again

A cone filter could get you 1 or 2 hp, but the stock replacement ones are a lot cheaper.

well plugs it is one question though Denso or NGK??? A friend of mine says people have problems with Densos not lasting nearly as much as NGK's and burning too hot for the pistons. Which ones should I get?

Thanks

You shouldn't run plugs that are too cold. You want it to be just right, too hot or too cold isn't good.
