i didnt mean its a hopless cause i was just saying maybe you should think about a different setup..but i could see what u mean about the rod journals..didnt you use platagage to check the oil clearance on the crank???..
whatever u do ill support u and i hope u finally get something that works well

the thing about plastigague is that it cant check for out of round bores... if either the crank or the rod was out of round plastigague wont tell you... all it will do is give you the crucsh area clearance... i did plastigague the motor and everything was within specs... everything measured between .032 and .037... it should have worked but for some reason it failed...

i have not given up... there will be another motor build...

i did not use a dial indicator as i dont have one... but that would have told me if there was anything out of round... when i get it apart i will know right away by looking at the bearings... if there is a lot of wear on any one part it will point me to something being out of round... you can tell a lot by what kind of wear there is on the bearings...

im working on getting another bottem end... there is a block in the for sale thread that i might be able to get... dunno yet... im also working on another sohc bottem end as well... hope i can work it all out to get it all... i wont know on the sohc stuff till at least next week... i wish i had it now... im going to where my car is sitting for the weekend... if i had all the parts then i would have it all together again by sunday...

well it runs now... after i put in another motor... i bought a 95 bottem end and put it together yesterday... drove it home and it ran great... i did install dual exhaust cams and if you are used to driving a stock 240 it has a little more kick when you stomp it... disassembly starts tonight or tomorrow of the built block to see what happened and what i can do about it... chances are it is a lost cause... oh well start over again... will put up pics if i can remember to get my camera from work ...

the rods are gone... at least 2 of them are from my experience... i wont be able to use them... the crank is gone since it is junk any way... the pistons will be usable but that is about it... the block is still good at least i hope i have not started to take it apart yet but we will see...

the verdict is in... the crank is shot... the center main journal is trashed... the number 2 and number 3 rod journals are trashed as well... number 2 rod and number 3 rod are gone...the crank goes back tomorrow and i should be getting some cash back or im gunna be pissed... the crank was nowhere near right from the beginning...

the good thing is... the block is still in good shape... i robbed it for parts to put the other motor in my car together so now it will be a while until i get all of the parts i need to get it up and running again... hope to have it up and going again in september...

least it is not a total loss... im going to be building a kat with the 95 block i have for my other car...
