240sx is too popular

I sold my Honda last week. Uh,,,, it is so unconvience without a car in southern california! Damm.... I cannot go anywhere! I try to find a S13, but no luck at all! I looked on autotrader, recycler, craigslist, and I called most of the S13 for sale around the area, and all been sold! There is a guid sold his S13 within one day! Damm.... can't believe it!Everyone wants 240sx at this time! It easiest car for sale! I see more and more people jack the price up! Man, they are making moeny!:nono:

-HyJynX- 08-27-2004 06:45 PM

Yep yep and yep.

240's(espically in cali!)are totally popular and the price has shot up in the past 2 years

JaySlide 08-27-2004 09:33 PM

im trying to find an s14 in my area, but its hard as hell to find, prob because im picky, but i wanna be totaly happy with it

WhiTeRsX02 08-28-2004 09:39 AM

hell yeah man! everywhere i call... its sold! i got my s13 for $1900 and its not even the SE model :(

l3ooherS14 08-28-2004 10:10 AM

Im very picky when looking for a 240. The closest s14 for sale is in VA and the guy wants $7000 for a SE with ove 150k miles. :nono: Its been really difficult to find one this year. It seems like there was about 20 for sale last year, and hardly any now.

Chedderknight 08-28-2004 11:14 AM

totally, I'm glad i got my 240 back in 2001 for about 1500, its the base model though, and now when i see my year and style with atleast 160k its like 3000....insanity...

WILDACEXXX 08-28-2004 11:41 AM

jay my friend is selling a 97 for 8500 obo. pm me for details

ZeR0 08-29-2004 05:59 AM

Yea, its nearly impossible to find a good deal on a 240 now. Especially in Cali, even a run down 240 can run up to around 5k. I bought mine [96 SE (RIP)] in good condition for 5k before the whole drifting hype came around.

swannjay 08-30-2004 06:13 PM

you know 240sx are popular when people with RX-7's and Hachi's want to trade their cars for a 240.

StanBo 08-30-2004 06:44 PM

Jay maybe you are looking in the wrong places?

We know of plenty 240s for sale in the North East.

ZeroS13 08-30-2004 10:32 PM

I sold my AE86 last year and have been searching for a base model S13 coupe. I've missed a couple due to lack of funds & weren't "perfect!" I guess I'm picky too. :D No worries though cuz I've seen a few lately that look awesome. I'm going to printout some business cards & see if the owners will be selling anytime soon.

Wish me luck!

l3ooherS14 08-31-2004 12:07 PM

I dont think that 240's in general are getting more popular. But I think when a person gets into drifting they want to know what a good car for drifting is and this is where the 240 pops up. So Drifting leads to 240's. (my theory) But then again, i liked 240's a year before i even knew what drifting was.

i guess i am looking in the wrong places, didn't know so many peple from import fanatix are on this board, i went to a meet once, with Carisma a while ago, it was pretty hot.

l3ooherS14 08-31-2004 12:18 PM

In my area they are rare too. Some places have more than others which leads people to think, "If there are plenty of 240's in my area and not his, he's probably not looking hard enough." <- Not always true. You just have to keep looking like i have been.

twofortyessex 09-02-2004 08:44 AM

I got mine for 2800 in june of 03, with 108k on it. its a 1991 SE hatch in beautiful condition, and I could probably sell it now with 130k on it for more than I paid for it...

but I never will, I love my car :D

projectzero 09-06-2004 04:22 AM

well i bought mine for 1000 in pretty good condition its a 92 se coupe clean in and out blown engine automatic, but it didnt matter they both went bye bye engine and tranny (This was all back in 02) now its well worth around 5 to 6 grand he he but its not for sale............

what you said is that they are very popular. regardless of the reason they are becoming very very popular and hard to find.

l3ooherS14 09-06-2004 12:20 PM

Correct.

Gnarly Dragon 09-07-2004 10:13 PM

i got mine from a friend who just asked me out of the blue if i wanted a 240 coupe and i got it for 800. 65 thousand miles and it needs a new motor but near perfect body and its a five speed i am wanting to sell it though so if you want it its lime green gray two tone and for sale over a thousand can take it

l3ooherS14 09-08-2004 12:29 PM

What year?

SINxSELEKTAH 09-09-2004 04:51 PM

try harder...if found an 89 S13 Coupe for $600 in the san diego area...front end damage...but for a coupe...the front end comes off anyway :bigok:
-jaysin

l2aine 09-14-2004 06:19 AM

Incertain found 2 89's for under $1400 within the span of 2 months. They're getting harder to find if you're super picky, and I do hate how all the Honda people are selling their POS HIN cars to get a 240sx, only to crash them off the mountains. :p

ArticDragon 09-14-2004 02:48 PM

hey, as long as Honda people keep crashing, we can bring in the parts at the junk yard, lol!

l3ooherS14 09-14-2004 03:38 PM

lol, Thats true.

l2aine 09-14-2004 04:35 PM

...but I need 240SX parts, not Honda crap... lol

ArticDragon 09-14-2004 08:32 PM

No, as long as Honda people keep crashing thier 240s trying to be doriking and stuff.

l3ooherS14 09-15-2004 05:22 AM

I really think they are getting popular and thats the whyt they are hard to hind. They are just hard to find in the first place. Around my area at least.

S14Dude 09-15-2004 11:03 AM

240's are getting too hard to find.

l2aine 09-15-2004 12:50 PM

Anyone wanna buy mine? make an offer LOL :p

a94autocamry 09-15-2004 01:02 PM

alot of honda people are crashing there 240s cuz they are driving it as if it was Front Wheel Drive :dunno: , and cuz probably some of them dont even know that 240's are rear wheel drive.... its a totally different driving style....

and from what ive heard, when u spin out in an FF car, its easier to regain control, but in an FR, its much harder.. ?

l2aine 09-15-2004 01:46 PM

i'd rather watch Torque...or Biker Boyz :dunno: :p

-Jaysin

l3ooherS14 09-17-2004 08:29 PM

Both those movies seem stupid. F&F were ok, i guess.

l2aine 09-17-2004 08:59 PM

at least you didn't watch "Joyride"

NissanS14Kid 09-18-2004 07:34 AM

I am still surprised i got my car...i have looke FOREVER! and i finally found this one and couldnt pass it up.

Chedderknight 09-18-2004 02:30 PM

IMO its harder to find a decent 240sx if your not going to swapthe engine, for ex: I"m loking for a another 240, being that mine is auto and has a bent frame, but i dont want to swap the engine rather work on the KA, finding a 91 and above is a ***** to find, but there are plenty of 89's and 90s, found one for 1000, only about 90k on the guage

l3ooherS14 09-18-2004 03:38 PM

I kind of like how the S13's 89'-90' front ends look. But Ka24e=:(.

Texas240 09-18-2004 03:50 PM

ok, well, i'm jumpin on the bandwagon, i've had my 89' for 4 years, and they used to be really rare, no one even used to know what car it was. now driving around town i counted 7 different s13's and probably 4 different s14's, most of them are bone stock... i guess we've got to face that we're becoming a popular car, & not a rarity

Marc936 09-18-2004 05:21 PM

ill take my mazda counterpart, 2nd gen rx-7 :D
