Anyone read this months issue of Import Tuner?

With the SE-R on the cover?
On page 44 of the SE-R article it says this...

It's been a while since Nissan enthusiasts in the United States had something to get excited about. There's always the older cars to fall back on, the 510's and Zs, if old is your thing. Then there's the 300ZX, the SE-R and the underachieving 240SX.....................etc.

Is it me, or does the Import mags hate the KA24DE motors?

Hmmm Sticker Tuner? I read that vile crap once. I wouldn't even use that damn so called magazine tocover the floor while I house break my dog. Most mags will say whatever it takes to sell mags and that is all. I mean come on how many years did you have to sit through the mags calling the Civic a sports car? Or referring to stupid *** parts like neon lights, altezza lights, big *** heavy useless wings and other crap like that as actual upgrades.

The KA will always be refered to as a piece of crap......thats unfortunate. It will always have to live up to the reputation of the "mighty" SR all the time. Its too bad, because I'm sure if the KA had the aftermarket following the SR has it wouldn't be considered an "underachiever".

Come on, I'm not about to get into a war here, because this subject has been beaten to death. The KA is built well. It uses an iron block, and from what I know is very rare in that utilizes oil squirters in its pistons, a characteristc normally associated with a turbo driven car. The only companies that provide real aftermarket components for Japanese cars/engines are guess what.....in Japan. Are there any KA powered vehicles over in Japan? To the best of my knowledge, no. So there in lies the main reason why the KA has not recieved the support that the SR has enjoyed for so long. The KA is simply a USDM solution to an EPA problem.

A good reason for no KA motored Silvia's is the increased price of road tax and JCI inspection for a car with less power in stock form then the CA18DET. Yah its cool they used all those things in the motor but its still a truck motor.
