fix my car or just f**k it.
hello, i know i dont talk much on the forums, but im on often. just dont have anything to say.
but know i have a question. i have a 1990 240sx SE fastback. i always wanted a turbo car, so i was gonna swap a sr20det like most people do and upgrade brakes, suspension, and tighten up the chassis. but i been thinking the amount of time and money that would have to be put into this, i could put a nice down payment on a newer car. the car i had in mind was a 350z. with the power goals of 350 hp in a 240sx i figure i could pull that much out a 350z with some simple bolt ons. i know the 350z would cost more but less milage and better control? plus i like how wide they look. so the question could be what would u do. or in your opinion which do you think would be better. on a side note i also want to put a sound system. i dont want to get all crazy with fiberglass and huge speakers, just a nice mellow sound kit that has a stock look and great sound. i understand with a sub i wont be able to get a "stock" look but you know, nothing out the ordinary.
feedback please.
and flaming not welcome i understand this is a 240sx forum and everyone would say 240 is the best. but i want honest opinions.

you should ask this same question on a 350z forum? because everyone here is going to say 240. come on dude you know that. But i do really like the 350z too don't get me wrong. but if i had like 30,000 dollars i would definitely have a ***** to the wall, everything perfect and done on my 240. Something about the idea of pulling up the light in a 4 banger and totally blowing the **** out of a car that totally thought they were gonna win and then drifting around the next corner. And plus 240's are just ***king Bada$$! so im going to have to say 240 all the way!!!!

maybe i just want more power cheaper and relaible. what about a 240sx with rb25det? i mean im going to swap the engine anyway why not go for something more powerful. rb26dett is to hard....but yeah i want about 350-400 hp and im sure the rb25det would give me more tq too. vs the sr20det

If you're seriously asking those questions, you'd be better off not swapping any engines at all. Just get the 350 and call it a day, it'll make the power you want without the mess. I'll say it, VQ > RB

I wud be completely toward the 240. but I'm saying that more so because my dad had a 1989 fastback and it was the first car I drove. so I'd be much more attached to one if I had it. I'm not a fan of the 350Z looks but if you like it, thats where its at. otherwise, you cud do a swap on the 240.
my decision - keep the 240 and do a RB26 swap with a RB25 tranny or just simply turbo up a SR20. garrett T3/T04E with .64 trim FTW.

Newer technology, far better handling and fuel mileage is even better depending on how you drive.
Personally, Im keeping the S14 for my brother since he loves that thing so much. If he didnt care, I'd be rocking a G35 picking up poontang pie every Fri and Sat night. And sound system wise, you can build a competitive sound system for under 2G's if you know people. Just network around and you'll find sweet *** deals, no joke.
I can also say that the reason why Nissan close the final page of the RB chapter was because of the fact that they needed to move onto new technology, hence the VQ series and now the VR series. A lot to think about, Henry is not lying there, VQ > RB for sure.

For one, YES, I was involved in a complete RB26 swap into an 180sx. **** was hard and took us 7 1/2 months to complete!
Reason why people use the 25 tranny is because the 26 tranny will not work, the front transfer case will just spin, no power will be delivered to the rear.
As for ECU, you need to use the Apexi Power FC w/ FC Commander. Stock 26 ECU will NOT work.
Now that I've given you the basics, the cost of this swap would be 10K hook up in labor alone! This job is normally 15-20K easy at any shop that knows their ****.
I'm with Tripp, I'd rather plug up a Neo RB25 and do a Greddy intake mani and call it a day, the price I'd spend just installing the 26, I can have a 400+ hp Neo 25. But with that money, I'd do a Chevy LS2 swap with an Eaton super charger and just burn all the others away, at the same time destroying my chassis.

^haha Tripp was talking **** to Spade because he doesnt understand or care what a waste the RB26 swap is.
If you get a 350z remember that insurance is going to be THROUGH THE ROOF. 350z's have one of, if not the, highest death rates of any car.
