I figured I would spread this out to the import forums out there as well. Coming from driving an import I know law enforcement hassled a lot of us. Well here's my story...

Due to recent incidents that occured at the norcal vs. socal euro show on April 10, 2004 we have decided to create a petition to help stop the harassment of our so called "modified" cars. To let you guys know about the incident that occured this weekend there was a huge gathering of european cars in santa barbara, over 1000 cars in attendance. After continuous efforts to cordinate with local law enforcement, the Santa Barbara Police Department decided to write hundreds of citations to nearly every car that exited the Earl Warren Fairground premises. These citations were very minor including tint, no front license plate, and stickers on windshield. I dont argue the fact that we deserved the tickets, but I do argue the manner the law enforcement officals handled this incident. They waited by every exit, backing up traffic just so they can write everybody that passed them a ticket.

To top this off people have video of the cops saying they knew about the event and were there just to write everybody tickets. Some people even witnessed a car and a minivan run a redlight yet the police didnt bother pulling them over, instead they would rather ticket us for minor infractions when those people could have nearly ran somebody over.

To prevent this from happening again Tyler Blue and Eddie Carter of Tempt Media and Importxdreams.com have created up this petition. I urge you to sign it so this doesnt happen to you in the future. We need to set an example of the Santa Barbara Police Department and the California Highway Patrol. They need to know that what they did was wrong and they need to be punished for what they did.

there are quite a few other forums that this petition is posted on since a lot of people have been helping to spread the word on this.

I am pleased to say that Santa Barbara Chamber of Commerce, Sant Barbara City council, Santa Barbara Press, and a few insiders of the Santa Barbara Police departed have chosen to back us up 100%. Looks like SBPD and the CHP dont stand a chance against us. But we still need your help, the more we can get this nationwide the better we can solve this problem across the nation and not just in Santa Barbara. So far we have over 450 signatures on the petition in only 48 hours. The more signatures we get the more of an impact we can make so that law enforcement doesnt hassle us again.
