Katsuhiro Ueo

9-1-2005

Katsuhiro Ueo, the hero of AE86 fans in the US and Japan, will be returning to the U.S.A. this September!

Ueo has not appeared at any sanctioned US events in nearly 2 years, after amazing the crowds with his thrilling victory over Taniguchi during the first inaugural US D1GP. The impact Ueo left (no pun intended) from that event left many fans in the US wanting more, and many wondered when, or if, Ueo would ever return to the United States.

This September 17th & 18th at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Ueo returns to the US to drive at a BF Goodrich Challenge drifting exhibition during Nopi Nationals.

No, Katsuhiro Ueo will not be using the signature AE86 chassis this time around. Ueo will return to the US and will be behind the wheel of an arguably equally finely tuned and well built machine...from Signal Auto!

Signal Drift 180SX or V35 Drift Skyline?

Many AE86 purists will faint seeing Ueo in a car other than an AE86, but this event will be very exciting for the rest of us who have wanted to see how Ueo would do behind the wheel of a much more powerful car. Ueo's overall skill, and amazing entry speeds in competition have earned him the immense respect from fans all over the world. The fact that Ueo is impossibly good using a disadvantaged chassis, make him a favorite at all events, where the competitors use cars with 400, 500, or even 600hp vehicles.

Ueo is returning to see his fans, and also simply because he's been wanting to visit for some time now. Ueo has been close with Signal Auto and other manufacturers for some time, and since Signal had an empty seat after building yet another amazing vehicle, this was the perfect opportunity for him to come back.

Ueo is no stranger to vehicles and in fact owned a wide variety of cars including Silvias, Skylines and even a Starlet. This event will be a great chance to see Ueo perform in a high horsepower vehicle, and see the full potential of Signal Auto's tuning. Will he abandon the AE86 and switch to a different chassis? Probably...not.

Whatever the outcome, this will surely be a nice highlight for the drifting motorsport in 2005!
