List of cars dead to low sales volume

In this months Options Mag (pg 249) it explains the death of more then just the Silvia and the Syline. The Supra JZA80 is dead along with the RX7 FD3S because of low sales.
The GTR's sold
in 1999= 5536
in 2000= 1859
in 2001= 2197 according to Nissan's numbers for Japan (yep not counting sales outside of Japan)
The JZA80 sold
in 1999= 810
in 2000= 470
in 2001= 400
The Silvia sold
in 1999= 18000
in 2000= 9000
in 2001= 6300
The RX7 FD3S sold
in 1999= 4151
in 2000= 2611
compared to a van of Hondas which sold
in 1999= 90496
in 2000= 79271
in 2001= 110014

So now all the talk about the prototypes they built can die. Renault is calling the shops and they want quantity not quality.

Uh... Are you talking about the R35 GTR Concept? I don't think that will die.

I think it will since Nissan said it has. Do you really think that Nissan will toss a perfectly good car with less displacement and most importantly lower road tax to instead go with a bigger displacement much higher road tax gas guzzer? Won't work in Japan. They laughed at the new Z car.
I didn't pick up the new Options2 yet. A friend dropped of Battle Magazine and the new Options and I'm to lazy go go buy the new Options2 mag. The Skyline GTR came out a long time ago and there were periods where it died off but came back about 10yrs later. Maybe it will happen someday but don't go and hold your breath. You stand better odds of finding a honest politician in DC first.

re:

The JZA80...

They stopped making the Supra in 1998. What's up with the 1999-2001 Stats?

You're referring about the engine, not the Supra, right? Or are you referring to the Lexus IS300? (Which has the JZA engine block)

I'm confused because those numbers don't add up. I'll have to check out the article...
