only reason i dont like it is because they took a AWD car and made it RWD with an open diff (did anyone notice the 1 line when he did the burn out).

now as for engine swaps its all about what you want **** everyone else put what you want in your car, why? cause its your car!

my ex was pissed that i put a SR in my 240 she wanted me to boost my KA then im like ITS MY CAR! ARG!! lol

My turn....

I personally think, just like any Frankenstein swap that it's pretty cool! Whether it be something like an LS1 into a Lancer Evolution or a 2JZA80 into a Thunderbird Supercoupe, which is currently being done and run, (www.sccoa.com) I like this oddball tuning of all sorts, I mean personally, if I weren't into it I would have never considered putting a carbed V8 into my BMW, it's simply nonsensical. The only thing saving me is the fact that I know the 8 is going to make more torque stock for stock and dollar for dollar than the Bimmer's straight six will although the Bimmer engine will make more horsepower. The V8 is a little heavier, but since the 350 CID is a smaller engine it'll sit further back, thus, distributing the weight more equally.

That being said, I do have to say that I would have to agree with some of the other members here in saying that I would have personally stuck with the 4G63, but that's just knowing how easily those bad boys develop torque and horsepower. The V8 is my proof that what I always say holds up and no one can disprove me, "There is no replacement for displacement." Whatever you do to a 4 banger if you do it to a bigger engine you get more power and more torque. Maybe that's the idealism that they're following, or maybe they just wanted to try something radical (although it's not radical in concept it's radical in practice) with the Evolution, the argument, as far as that's concerned, really isn't up to us to jump on the fence on, it's already been done and whatever reasonings they have for doing this are their own.

It's probably going to be a street/show car just looking at how the car behaves. You can tell that with the new engine the car wants to rotate a lot easier, and NO it's not just because the engine is so torque-filled that it's bringing the *** end around, even though it is, the vehicular dynamics have changed quite sharply due to this swap due to the fact that the chassis was never designed to house that engine. They have to restructure the entire car before running it, this is simply because the added twist and torque from four more cylinders puts undue stress on the monocoque. Chassis reinforcement and inner-body rigidity supplement should help this out as well.

I can't imagine it being a good road racer because of the aforementioned mistakes made, but it may be a decent drifter, even though the wheelbase and body design are going to work against it while sideways. This wouldn't be a good autocross car, and it may only fare decently in rally. This doesn't mean that they won't do it, hell people bring all kinds of things on the track, the fact of the matter is whether or not it's any good. Maybe they'll drag race it, but even then, switching to a RWD system to accommodate for the engine is only going to hinder them in this situation and this is why I can only find logic in saying that this would be a dedicated show and shine and street car. Hell, this may just be a car to say "Look, what we did, yeah it doesn't make much sense speaking from a performance standpoint, but we did it!"

With THAT being said, it does NOT make any sense to do this, performance wise, I know I always say "There's no-wheel-drive like rear-wheel-drive." and the same holds true in almost every performance situation, however, this chassis and body were not designed for RWD performance and the torque that's getting delivered to the rear wheels is only going to act against anyone, even your good pal Stig here, who is trying to drive it around a track.

Oh well, I've bantered about, I'll leave it up to everyone here to decipher and decide which points they want to argue against.

Who cares if its American of Japanese, hell, it could come from Mars for all I care, if it deserves my respect it's gonna get it. I don't see any problem with putting a 2jz in a Cavalier or whatever the hell you want to do. It's not a slap in the face either. What does it matter where the engine comes from or who manufactured it? (unless its a Ford lol)

Yeah They must have done a lot of work to this car....A Lot of work!!! , but its a first of that chassis to be swapped like this, much respect. I hope to see it at a show someday.

I'm pretty sure they're using the stock rear diff, and it's an LSD. Just thought I'd throw out a bone. Haha.
