My latest project (non car related)
Painted a room in my house.
What a pain in my rear end! This was my first big project (other than my garage). Since this is a living area I wanted to make sure it looked good.
I had some oil based primer sitting around and I used that to primer the wall. I didn't know oil based primer works only well when you use oil based paint and not water based like I had. Guy at Sherwin Williams told me it'd be alright, but he was wrong.
Either way I learned a lot, next room will be a lot easier.
Things I learned:
Purdy burshes and rollers rock
Sherwin Williams paint is better then the Lowes crap.
Higher someone to do the work (just kidding! Sorta....)
On to the pix!
How the room looked originally (taken when I bought the house)
Walking in from the common area in front of the room.
Part of the room. My old man checking out the house.
Not the best shot. So sue me.
Here are some in process pictures:
I covered up the walls with newspaper because I had already painted those wall. I decided to go back and reprimer the wall with the proper primer. To keep the walls clean I covered them up. Doubled my work with just 1 error.
Put in a ceiling fan then I decided to paint the ceiling. So I had to cover it up. Mistake #2. Doubled my work again.
Painted the ceiling white. Decided to cover it before I laid down my 3rd color in the room. Keep the white, white ya know?
End result. 1 room. 3 colors. Ceiling "Extreme White". North & South Walls "Orange glaze" in color. East & West walls a dark yellow. At first I had my doubts, but I liked it now.
My sister chose the color, I have no color sense. Again I'm happy with the results. My parents live with me, so this will be their room.
Put a ceiling fan in as well. Keep the place cool. I like the white better then the original "egg shell white" color.
I'm painting the common area next. I don't plan to start on it any time soon. I'm tired of painting.
More pictures: here.
Enjoy!

The blue was kind of serene, like you could just sit in there and relax. The new color is cool, I'd use it for like a game room or something.
UGH.... Why'd I have to be raised around women?.....

Its just you. The picture is way out of focus.
Don't worry. The older I get and since I bought a house. I look at stuff in the same way. Sad really.
