I am sure someone on this site can help me. I am looking to put a firewall up on my computer cause he has a cable modem and I think he got a virus. I am kinda handy with a computer but nothing special. How do I do it and are there any side effects? I am sure it will run a little slower on the internet or will it be a lot slower? Any help is appreciated.

first off if you have a virus you need to deal with that first i would do an online scan from www.sarc.com

click yes to every thing that comes up then wait for the scan to finish..

if you have a virus it will tell you the name write it down. it wil also provide tou with the removal tools for it.

if you need help post up what virus it is and i will do help the best i can.

after you get any virsu that could be on your computer off i would get Norton Internet Security

just a firewall for you computer willl do nothing to protect you against viruses just security threats that are there.

Thanks man. I did the scan and nothing popped up. I was talking to my little brother and he said that he thought he the computer had a virus so he deleted a bunch of files. He ended up deleting a system file but I fixed that. I did the virus scan and nothing showed up. So I don't know he is always downloading shared files so he constantly has problems with the computer. I try to tell him but he doesn't listen cause I keep fixing it for him. But Thanks for the help.
