random thought about deer

I was driving in the country last night and saw a deer in the road, it was not threatening, however, i had plenty of time to slow down and let him do his thing and get out of my way. On my way home, coming back on the same road, i saw a deer on the side of the road that had been hit recently by a car (possibly the same deer i saw before ) and that got me thinking. I've never hit a deer (knock on wood) nor been in an incident where i had to brake hard to avoid a deer, and I started thinking what i would do if it happened to me. of course I could just brake hard and try not to lock em up and steer out of the way, but then I thought about it more and came up with an idea.

Suppose you are driving on a long, straight country road at night, u got your high beams on and are going 65 mph (test case ) and a deer jumps out at you. What if you get on the brakes hard, start honking your horn, and TURN YOUR LIGHTS OFF? since the deer are normally blinded by headlights and freeze, what if you turned ur lights off and made a bunch of noise, would the deer get scared of the noise and run away, since ur lights are off he isnt blinded anymore. What do you guys think? Of course this would only work if you were on a straight road and knew you wouldnt go off, but still, just came to my mind on my way home.

I hate deer. If you turned off your lights he would probably think the road is safe and call to his family to cross with him.

What you do i flash your lights. Constant light will keep it frozen. But flashing the high beams on and off will make it move I believe.

Ill pull out my gun and shoot it. But really, you got to watch for those bastards. When one deer crosses there are, most of the time, more than one deer. So you'll think its clear when the first one passes and then end up hitting the 2nd or 3rd, etc. I guess you just have to watch because they can kill you.

hmm, yea i was thinking about a lot of the stuff you guys are saying, but if you were making a lot of noise honking the horn, wouldnt they be scared off and not think it were safe? like when u fire a gun and they all scatter, wouldnt it have the same effect?

im glad there are no deer for me to hit. im not really into having to think out a game plan in case of large and troublesome animals on the road.

I aim for deer in my truck. if i hit one, i pull over, gut the thing, and throw it in the back for the butcher. Never would i do the same thing in my s13. its a good thing it has 4 wheel disk brakes!
