Well It's Come To This!
To clarify, those suits were called "frivilous law suits" here in CA. We had a vote on it back around late 90's (before I was able to vote) and it passed that no one would be allowed to sue.
A perfect example of what is no longer allowed:
Guy robs bank, runs outside, trips on busted sidewalk, breaks his arm, goes to jail for the robbery, while in jail, sues the bank for 2 million and won.
Not allowed anymore.
Also, the shooting a burglar deal... unless the intruder has a weapon and is attacking you, you can not shoot them. Now if you kill them, and the "have a weapon in their hand" when the cops get there... thats another story.

You can shoot someone after they have set foot in your house, you cannot shoot them in the back.
They do not have to be armed, the intent simply has to be there. A person breaking into my house deserves to die, regardless of his story.

i was thinking the same thing. i was in criminal justice in my senior year in high school and learned all about that stuff. interesting to see what little rights we have, even when we're at grave danger
yeah people will sue for ANYTHING...this one guy had an RV and was on the freeway going home when he decided he was hungry, so he put it on cruise control, went in the back to cook some food, the RV runs off the side of the freeway when a turn came, then he sued the company for not putting in the users manual that you cant put the RV on cruise control to get up for anything, and ended up winning a few mil!
i say people in America are too lazy to go out there and earn their own money, so they have to sue people to steal their hard earned cash
edit: about the shooting someone deal, some years back, my half-sister's uncle was at home with his wife, when he heard someone in his backyard. there was a man out there breaking into each one of his cars, then tried to break in the house. her uncle grabbed his gun, went out, shot and killed the guy trying to break into his home, then there was a huge thing over it in the news whether he should go to jail or not, and they ended up not sending him in

Wow. That's rediculous, I know a guy who bought a brand new mazda6 and rolled it down a hill 2 days later because he and his friends wanted to "touge". They were a bunch of kids who had absolutely no driving experience and a fairly new licenses
Actually, Ive discussed the issue with many officers and lawyers. Hands down, the law states that even if the person enters your house, they must have a weapon in plain view in the attempt of attacking you with the intent to permanently harm or kill you before you can open fire. I thought the other way for a long time, then after talking with people in the field, I was wrong.
You cannot shoot anyone unless you are sure that your life or the lives of your family is in imenent danger.
Recently, there was a Laotian guy who fought off 3 would-be robbers who tried to break into his car, he tried to scare off the three subjects by brandishing his rifle (also against the law, you cannot brandish a firearm out in public no matter the time of day.) two of them froze, the third reached for something behind him. Then and only then did the guy shoot. At first, the DA was going to file charges of assault with a deadly weapon, but later on dropped them due to the fact that he was protecting the lives of him and his family. What would have really got him in trouble was if he had shot someone after they got int their car and sped off. Yes the CA laws are twisted, but what can you do?

See, it's different here, slightly, this is the backwoods . . .remember and also a "right to carry" state. So as long as it's in plain view, you can have a weapon on your person. If you pass the bill and are allowed to obtain a concealed weapons permit, then you're allowed to tuck it under your shirt, LOL!
However, it's awkward because you can have the weapon on your person, but when you enter your car, the rounds and weapon need to be in two separate locations, ie trunk and passenger area or lock box and outside of lock box.
Blah, who cares, don't carry a gun, kill people the old fashioned way, with your hands, I'm a member of the Bujinkan, a world regime dedicated to the study of the 9 deadly arts of Ninjutsu. No! I'm not a ninja, before the jokes start rolling in, but I can defend myself if need be. I don't need a gun, as long as I have my katana, and currently there are no laws against owning, carrying or brandishing any weapons used in martial arts in the state of Georgia.

Thats whats so sad about CA. Unless your really close with the sheriff, you wont ever be able to carry concealed. Theres so many laws out there to protect the criminals, it leaves us with zero options. I on the other hand, will shoot you on site if you break into my house in the middle of the night. That way, if you didnt have a weapon, I can plant one on you and make up a story after your dead.
I want to study Krav Maga, that is no joke self defense right there. blocking a knife attack with one hand and deliver a crushing punch to the attacker's vocal box... yeah. My style.

THATS WHAT IM TALKIN BOUT! SMG, USP, Desert Eagles, pair of 1911s, not much of a glock fan tho...
I had a USP, I didnt really like it tho. Its still a bad a$$ gun for sure. All I have now is my Springfield TRP 1911 Operator (last of the full tac rail type) and my Mossberg 500A Shotty. Soon to have a 357 sig XD.
Semper Fi Bro!

LOL, well just for clarification
I'm a US Marine not a US NUT!! LOL! Those guns are all airsoft, but I'm very active in the sport so it's cool.
The only gun I plan on owning will be either a Ruger KP85 .45 or a Glock 20/21
Sorry about the confusion, but I didn't want you to think I was trying to start a Sub-Division Massacre, LOL!

EDIT: Those are US Marine Corps spec Beretta M9s not 1911s . . .the 1911 is a beautiful gun, but it's not Italian . . .it's 100 percent American made and American true. Those guns aren't much for accuracy but they are definitely man stoppers and will fire anywhere. They're almost the opposite of Berettas which are extremely accurate but couldn't stop a charging puppy and if you get a grain of salt in them they'll jam quicker than a virgin in a strip club.

haha you should really be able to. you never know when someone has a weapon on them or has the intent of killing you. they expect people to just sit by and watch until they try to get you, but by then, its too late
That's just it, thats the way the law works "In the Criminal's Favor" but it's okay . . .I have a knack for being able to do very painful things to people thanks to one of the 9 Bujinkan schools of the world.
