240 questions

Hi, this is my first thread in this website. I've been working on 2 muscle cars for the past 7 years and recently got interested in imports. The car that turned me was test driving the Z and the Evo. Since I've been hooked.
I've actually been wanting to build a race-only import car...So naturally I thought of the Z. But the price is a little too expensive for just the shell so I chose the older 240 as the body.
My question is what is the difference between the fastback early 90's 240 and the more square (the one on the opening page) early 90's 240. I like the squarer one but they're a little rare here in So. Cal.
Also I fell in love with that Z, not particularly the car but the roots. I will be swapping the 3.5 out of the Z and into the 240 along with many many mods. The car will be stripped in the interior and in time the body panels will be replaced with carbon fiber. The project should be finished in about 1 1/2 years and I would really really appreciate your help...possitive or negative.

Thank you very much,
EM

Differences between the coupes and hatches are coupes are slightly lighter. Also hatches had the option of Super Hicas w/ a LSD and coupes had an option of HUD. IMO though forget the VG30 swap it's MUCH too hard. You'd probably be happier with an RB25 anyways.

I think the one on the main page he was refering to had the Silvia front end conversion. That isn't the way it came from factory over here in the us...that is a conversion using the japanese front end and bolting it on directly to the 240sx front replacing fenders, hood, headlights, and bumper along with misc. brackets etc. Good luck on the new beast!

What's so hard bout the swap? The only thing I'm not looking forward to is the piping for the intercooler and relocating the batterie. I'm gunna customize the hood and fenders so a SC will fit. But I'm still debating whether to go super turbo or not. In any case the headlights will be gone. but I think I'm just gunna fab the Skyline headlights, I'm kinda sick of the JDM theme...gunna try something unique while still remaining functional because the whole front end will probably be scrapped anyways.
Thank you for all your input. And yes the word coupe is what I was looking for. I knew it was the S13 but don't know much bout the US versions.
I am used to big block swaps but I have done a Si type R swap and a H22 into a Del Sol. So I'm getting used to the 4 cyl. but I still favor the displacement that's why I made up my mind with the 3.5. Oh and the engine is a VQ35DE not the VG30, it's probably a mistype but I think that's the older fronteir engine but im not sure.
I love these smileys :mwhahahaha:
