240sx noob with questions

Alright well i currently have no car as I am a poor college kid but I plan on getting a 240sx in the spring, most likely a s13 as they will be cheeper on my wallet. I just wonder what are some problems the s13 commonly have and what should I look out for when purchising one? I plan on auto-crossing the car so what would be some good basic suspension upgrades I should look into? And finnaly where are some good sources for me to research more about the 240sx and the sr20det motor incase i plan on swapping to it? Thanks

I looked in the fact first but only came across buying tips for the s14 so i figured id just make a post in the introduce yourself section and throw out a question or two. Looks like its searching time though

S14 and S13 usually are prone to the same problem. But as for suspension mods, Strut bars and sways are a good start. T/C rods, new bushings, then coilovers or a nice spring and shock combo. Tie rods/ends. you should be happy with that haha. As for engines, this is a great place to start. SRswap.com is a good place as well.

well welcome to the forums, I just got a s13 (single cam) and it had a bad timing chain cover due to the tensioner breaking and causing the chain to hit the caseing and break a whole in it next to a water jet I heard this was a common problem so check that and if it has high miles make sure you get the basic tune up and change out parts that would be a hassle to replace in the future

True... this is a good forum, but it's not the only one on the Internet. There's Zilvia, Nico, etc. Check around and you'll get more than you probably expected, opinion-wise
