Smile Engine Cleaning(im a noob)=P

Im new here, ive been reasearching on what to use to clean my p.o.s. looking engine, i own a 95 240sx. ive bee n llokin riound at auto ships and they jsut persuade me into paying them to do it. you guys know of any cleaning agents? thanks again.

you buy 2 cans of engine degresser. warm the engine bay.. spary it all down. scrub the really hard areas with wire brush, spray it off and your done

avoid direct blast of water to the alternator and distributer and electrical connections.

Thanks, did u do that to ur eng.?. id lik to see some pics, jsut to know how its gonna come out. I wanna see everything before i go and destroy my car. lol

i'd recommend the gunk brand degreaser and it works better than any other i've used.

I've always had good luck with purple power or castrol superclean.

one slow day at dominos i soaked my engine bay with a half bottle of hardcore oven degreaser. in some spots it started taking off the paint, but a light scrubbing hand got it freaking nice. i just threw buckets of water on it too. no electrical problems after that. oh, a friend told me to clean it while its running, cuz its a ***** to start a wet engine.

Your friend is an idiot. Never clean an engine while it's running. Everything electrical will be live and you'll definitely screw something up. Also, allow the engine to dry after washing. I usually leave the hood up and let it sit for a couple hours atleast.

"hey lemme stick my hand down here by the spinning fan to clean this" lol yeah dont do what ur friends say. i use simple green. but mines not all gunked up i just use that and it gets all the little stuff off

well so far my choices are purple power, "gunk" degreaser and castrol "superclean". ill test it out on my dad's ford f150 and show pics. ive cleaned it before but just with a toothbrush, DONT EVER TRY IT, lol.
oh and if anyone has pics of engine cleaning, post them please.
