getting rid of the bimmer

Hi, new to the forum. I currently drive an 87 BMW 325is, but I am fed up with fixing the damn thing every weekend! Ive had it for a year and have spent more than 5k in just fixing stuff, No upgrades yet! I want something reliable, friendly to work on(bmw parts are $$$$$), and most importantly RWD! Does a 240 fit into this for the most part? I'm tired of spending all of my money and Saturdays in the garage.

Yea man, an '89-'93 240 should run you between $1k to $4k completely dependent upon condition, the later generation S14 ('95-'98) should run you between $3k-$7k once again depending on condition~ they're ALL lightweight rwd and pretty dependable with lots of aftermarket support. They're kind of in high demand these days because of the drifting craze, but if you're patient and diligent in searching, u'll be rewarded in the end. Good luck and welcome to the forum!

I see, are there any big differences between the generations in handling? Which does better at the autox? Thanks!

not much of a difference, the S13's are a bit smaller and people tend to like to use them more for for track cars. They're also a bit more prone to understeer. S14's have a bit more neutral handling and in my opinion are a bit more balanced. But honestly I haven't driven an S13 enough to tell you exactly how much it differs. I would surmise that other characteristics are negligible~ mostly aesthetics 'n' such.
