Hello everyone, I'm new here.

Hello. I'm new to the forums. I'm planning on buying a '95 240SX sometime within the next few months. I'm planning on swapping the engine with a s15 SR20DET. I wanted to know what people thought of this setup and how it would work out. I was also wondering as to where I could get the installation done and how much it would cost. I've already got a place where I can get the engine. Thanks.

Hey, welcome to the site.

If you want information on the engine swaps, use the search feature. There are tons of topics on the SR.

Good luck with your future purchase.

and also, do alot of information finding about engines, as jumping into an sr swap might be a great idea at first, and then its not so hot after taking a look at other options. the engine swap forum has a great overview by biggamehit, that i think you should take a look at.

Welcome to the forums, you'll enjoy your stay here.

Before swapping the engine I would say heck out Biggamehit's threads on the subject, you may find something else enticing.

its not my write up,,, i just added better pictures lol

s15 SR will not make your car a super car by the way bro, read each one of those and pick your poison also... i would suggest learning the cars limits in stock form bro before anything else.

Welcome to the forums! Like most have said, I don't know if you have considered your options. As far as swaps go, S15 engines are nice, but their transmissions can't hold too much over 300whp. Probably the best thing to do when starting out with your car is have a goal.

By that I mean, decide what you want to do with it as far as drag, drift, street, show, etc. and start doing your research from there. I mean, if you're just making a street car, you probably wouldn't want coilovers, just a nice shock/spring combo. If you were going to track, just the opposite.

It's all going to boil down on what kind of direction you're taking with your car. From there, you can search the forum for specific answers, and once you've made your decisions we can help to give you more information or help you narrow it down.

Again, welcome to the forums! Let us know how we can help you!

Yeah, I know that the six speed on it is weak. My main goal is to make it as much of an S15 as possible. I'm gonna do a body kit swap. The S15 is one of my favorite cars but you can't get them in the US, so i was looking and this has been described as a good route.

Yeah the focus is going. The S15 is gonna be too tough and expensive to import and drive legally, so I'm going with what I heard was a decent second option.

hmmmm you will be paying approx. $3xxx or so for 250 hp.... this is rare that you would here me say this.... but go with a s13 sr bro.. save yourself the wiring hassle the s15 sr swap requires much more modification.

that money that you will save can go into upgrading little things on the older SR and getting about the same or more hp.

Actually, the Focus is a pretty good car, if anything and if possible, I would keep the Focus at LEAST as a daily driver because if you plan on doing this swap you're going to want to prepare for some down time, just in case. It's a good car, dependable and will always start for you, and if something breaks, it's a Ford so parts can be found at Autozone.
