Hey couple of Q's

hey guys i'm new to this forum, just want to say hi.

and i also have some questions i've been wondering about.

Right now i have a 2000 civic si, so i know all most evrything there is to know about B series engines and what not. but just the other day after school i roll up next to this 240 sx, and my jaw just dropped. it was soooo sweet, and when he took off and let off the gas so i could hear that BOV, i was won!

so i started doing research on the 240sx's and i came across the 180sx. my question is whats the difference between the two? i've seen the 240's w/ the jdm 180sx tail lights, and w/ some other body parts as well. right now, they seem i dentical to me. so can some one staighten me out about that.

I found a 1990 240sx for $1300, if fair condition for being 14 years old. i was thinking of getting that and swap in a sr20det "redtop" motor and a gp sports bodykit, and get it painted black and to top off the exterior get some nice *** 18" polished rims, like the bitz ones.

so what you guys think.

I thank you for taking your time to read this,

-Landon

welcome to the site

Dont get your question exactly, confused me a bit. There are 2 body styles for early 240s. Coupe, and hatchback(Fastback). The hatchback is almost exactly the same as the early 180sx in japan. And then there are the "type x" lights your talking about, those came on later 180sx in japan. Sounds like you got a plan, good luck on it

welcome to the boards.

here are the differences:

usdm 240SX hatch: LHD
jdm 180SX: RHD

usdm hatch: 2.4L (SOHC or DOHC) N/A I4
jdm 180SX: 1.8L or 2.0L DOHC turbo I4

usdm hatch: "240SX" rear side glass, center garnish
jdm 180SX: "180SX" rear side glass, center garnish

there are a few other details that escape me at the moment, but those are the basics, anyway.
