Hey whats goin on....

Hey whats up all. Just wanted to drop in and say hi. I'm James. For the record, i'm a poser at this point. Right now i drive a 97 eclipse, but i'm in process of selling it. I'm actually going to join the army and am going to buy a 240sx with the bonus money and make it into a project car. I guess i was just lookin for some general pointers on which model, year, things to look for ect. I'll be doing a lot of reading and studying... These forums are awesome....

Hey thanks for all the welcoms... anyone got any advice on what to look for wha tnot etc? I'm thinking about getting a 95 or so and am wanting to do the typical sr20 swap. I'd love to do the br 25 or 26 swap but honestly, my mechanic capabilities pretty well stop at hardcore fabrication... So i was lookin at some sr20's and they were giving the different spec of the differnt years... i guess my question is, is there a generation (engine wize) that is more freferable than the others? (ie: the 1st gen. eclipse engine is more preferable than the 2nd gen, because the valves are bigger) So yeah, anything i wanna look for?

RB25 doesn't really need that much custom fabricating to work, most of the parts needed you could buy. First off, why do you want the SR? Think about what you want the car for, chances are you wont need a swap right away. Learn what you can and how your car feels with the KA, when you feel your ready then upgrade to a new engine.

Hey, thanks for the advice... As for the engines... i'd say my engine (with its mods) its comperable to a KA. SO honestly, at this point, I really dont want to build up to it, i'm for the most part, alread there.... Now i understand its going to be a whole new world going from FWD to RWD and i'm sure that'll send me through a certain loop, but honestly, its not like RWD cars taking getting used to driving... and should that be the case, my dad has always had trucks, so i'm fully aclimated to RWD cars. And as for my want of the SR or BR... essentially it would seem that the american versions of these engines needs a bit of fortifying before doing much boosting or NoS'ing (not that i'm a huge fan of nos) ... Typically, it would seem as tho the engines are more capable of handeling more without any kind of piston/rod/crank fortifying ... I know the BR series engines are well known for their ability to hold a lot of boost before being dangerous, and honestly, i kinda base my oppinion on SR from what i've read of the BR. I could be horribly mistaken tho. And honestly, i'll admit, my want for the sr/br engine is partially for the namesake... moreso for the performance, but its always cool to know someone has an engine that very few people have.
