Im a Newb...I need Opinions....

Im planning on getting a 240sx but Im stuck between the years. Im not sure which one I want. I like the older models (flip lights)but also the newer models (non-flip lights). Im stuck please give me some opinions and which one will have the most body and performance mods. This will also be my first car and I got money for any of them.

S13 ('89-'93) has the biggest aftermarket support I believe.

Man, thats a tough decision. Sometimes I wish I got a 89-93 instead of 94-98...but sometimes I'm happy with what I have. Don't know man, it's really up to you and what you have planned for the car.

I'm still thinking about getting an S13 as a beater...

You can think about it this way:

Get an S13, you'll have more money to modify it, generally because it's going to be cheaper than an S14. Although if you get an S14, it will typically be newer and hopefully in better condition than the S13. These are just generalizations though, it really depends on how the person has treated the car. You can definitely find a lot of S13's out there that are in better shape than the latter model S14.

After that is considered, I guess it all comes down to personal taste with appearance. Good luck.

Engines for these cars are really cheap, so are parts--I wouldn't see rebuilding a problem if you feel the need to, or even want to...

Just a thought though.

The "older" S13 chassis 240s understeer a bit more too, the newer S14s have more neutral handling.

wow... i haven't greeted a n00b in a while. let's see if i remember how...

W-E-L-C-O-M-E!! be sure to try the veal.

errr... wait... that's not right. LOL

seriously, it's really a matter of aesthetics. which look do you prefer? there are some minor differences between S13's and S14's, but the most dramatic is the visual. of course, the newer models potentially will have less mileage/wear and the older ones will generally cost less to acquire. just something to consider.

Just search around a good long time and find out which style you like better. Dont get something just because someone tells you its better. Welcome to the forums btw.

if i would do it all over again i would buy a 91-93 s13 instead of my 89 because it already has the dohc motor and if you plan to do a motor swap then i heard the 91-93 models are easier to swap because of PS and AC lines and some other wiring stuff. just my .02
