New to forums, some questions

Hey guy's, I'm new here, don't have a 240 yet, just looking to learn. I just want a basic drifter/daily driver. I'm not out to learn to drift in my Cobra, and the 240 seems like it's a great little car, and I wanna hang out with the cool kids . So I have some questions, and I have searched quite a bit, so bear with me please. I'm probably going to get a 94-up car, with an auto.

1. I'm 6'5", will I fit in one? lol, seriously

2. How are they on gas?

3. Once I learn some drifting skills, how cost effective is it to bump the power output up to aroun 350 whp?

4. Is there any reason (Besides you guy's all have one and love them) why a 240 would be a better choice than a 80's Camaro or Mustang?

1. You can, but your gonna want one w/out sunroof, and may need spacer/steering wheel to fit your knees.

2. They are rated for like 24-28mpg, and Im seeing 25-30 with my n/a KA.

3. 350whp is pretty stout for a 240, and at that power your on the edges of needing a built KA, or stock bottom end SR. There are other options, but it'd be roughly 3k-10k for that power.

4. The weight is near 50/50, plenty of steering angle, lighter weight, IRS, and plenty of available suspension setups.

My question is why the auto? Im not saying its not possible, but for drifting instant power is helpful instead of the lag of the auto. Besides that theres more drivetrain loss, and more weight.

Awesome, thanks, I parked next to one at Jack in the Box earlier and was concerned by how tiny it seemed in person.

I want an auto simply because I will be driving it in Socal traffic, which with the stiff clutch in my Cobra, will totally turn you off from want a manual. And I can always swap it later if I want to. But this car is going to be my DD, so I want some reliability, and ease of use.

Hows it goin man.

You can drift on a stock KA motor if you want to. Since you drive a Mustang I take it you have a Mustang mentality- power > suspension. Here in the 240 world, and especially in the drifting world, it's the opposite. Suspension > Power. With the right setup you can drift on the stock engine without too much trouble. But seriously, if you're serious about drifting, I would go with the manual. You arent going to daily drive it, are you?

welcome to the forums and yea its like Ry said Daily driving a drift car isnt a good idea unless you dont care about a rough ride plus a 240sx clutch isnt that hard it would be with a upgraded pressure plate but stock is soft. also you can get 350whp on an SR easy on a KA w/o being built requires carful tuning and it prolly wont last long. also manual is pretty much a requirement for drifting in an underpowered car. im 6'7" i fit ok in my stock s13 and i fit great in my s14 with aftermarket steering wheel and spacer neither have sunroof, my other s14 has a sunroof and when i went to the track i had to open it with my helmet on lol

not all clutches are stiff if thats what is bothering you. stage 1 clutch is good for like 250ft/lbs and isnt even stiff at all.
