New - my 240sx

Hi, i jsut got my lisence over the summer and stubled upon a '90 240sx hatchback. I've had it for about 3 weeks now, still trying to work out the kinks. Sadly, it's automatic but i plan a switch over to the manual eventually. Been toying with drifting and already got my first speeding ticket going 61 in a 45, luckily i had slowed from 65+. Anyways, the main reason i went ahead and made an account is because i have a blown EGR cap and was wondering what it entailed to fix. I couldn't find a replacement anywhere, was planning to go to the Nissan dealership soon since i have a friend there, but was wondering if i should try to do it myelf or jsut have them do it. I'll get pics eventually.

Don't be stupid, stay 5 miles or below and you'll generally be ok. If youre serious about drifting and have no place to do it but some abandoned parking lot in the middle of no where then you'll need to save those points on your license. Don't waste them on silly speeding tickets.

yes take it from me, my dumb *** was doing 104 in a 60 and got 40 hours of community survice for it. luckly the judge was nice enough to give me that instead of the 40 hours + a $500 fine

Yeah save all the reckless behavior for the ricers on the street. Let them get all the police attention, the LAST thing we need is the police pulling every RWD car over due to "probably cause".

Other than that, save your drifting for the track, or find a place that literally no-one else knows about . . . .since places like that don't exist in the United States . . .best save it all for the track.

okay, so my water cooler went out, and the belts keep slipping, and i want more power! could anyone tell me about how long/how much it would take time and money wise to swap a rb20det into my car in a shop? my dad has a fairly extensive amount of tools in his barn and probably could do it but refuses to and i know it would take him forever. he told me it's be about 40 hours of labor at $60 an hour = $2400 for labor ( counting a auto-manual swap). does that sound right? i wouldn't want to spend that much for an engine that costs half that... any suggestions/ideas? I've also been considering jsut waiting until i save some more money and buying a 240 with a rb20 already in it or something like that. but there's that whole thing about having to wait... plus i'm not sure how much the things like pwr windows, rear view mirrors, moon roof, and spoiler add to the "value" of my car, since it would be difficult to find them with the same factory mods.

Water cooler? You mean water pump? And it's not hard to tighten the belts. If you're doing the engine swap yourself go SR20 or CA18. Both are easier than an RB swap. Have you considered a KA-T? BTW your dad's labor estimate is relatively close to being right.
