yea your on MDSS too. i went and looked at it. and i don't know much about them but it seemed in decent shape. needs paint and the brakes are all fawked up. the car was on 10psi and it pulled strong and hard seemed consistent. but the guy swears its just a throw out bearing that needs replacement but it grinds going into every gear i put it in and really bad down shifting from 3rd to 2nd. i am supposed to be going back tomorrow with my friend james who has a s14 with an sr20 in it. he knows a whole bunch about these cars and can direct me to if its a good car or not. he said he would rather me buy a swap car then do it myself because its easier to fix the small problems then start from scratch. the guy said 4k and i think i want to get him down to 3500. it needs a fair amount of work done to it still to be road ready. nothing to huge but we will find out tomorrow when i go out there with james. thanks for all the info guys and i will keep you updated

grinding going into every gear is more than likely the synchros. TO bearing makes a high pitch squeal when its bad.. i had one before.

/\ Im with Donnie, sounds like synchros are ready to call it in. And the trans sounds like its not so good either, which means either rebuild or source another one.

And if the paint is THAT bad, I wouldnt go over 3K for it since a decent paint job costs on average 1500 (hook up) to 3K easy. 3K should cover some minor body work though.

I'd only offer him 3K max with all those issues you just mentioned. I'd still be thinking hard about it even if he goes for 3... LOL

yea i told the dude after i drove it that i thought the trans was toast. and he was like i have never had it grind in to every gear blah blah and i was like it grinds every single gear you can feel it in the shifter. but like i said i am taking my buddy james down there with his 240 today so he can look it all over for me since he knows way more than me. and the paint the drivers side all the clear is peeling off. passenger side looks great and that was the side he took pics of and never said anything on the phone about. but i will keep you guys informed. i might think about getting a shell and doing the swap myself

Wow, the clear coming off like that... Id seriously pass on that one. You could find another SR swapped S13 in way better condition for what he asked for.

And I'd call him on the tranny issue... BSing about grinding out of the blue is the most retarded thing he could ever come up with.

well i took my friend james up there with me today. he took it out for a drive and it seemed to do alot better today. i redrove the car and it didn't grind anywhere close as much as the first time. i moved the seat forward a little more this time so maybe i was just sitting to far back at first and the clutch wasn't going in all the way i dunno. but james drove it came back and said it pulls hard and looks to be done right. the clear coat could be worse honestly i wish i could get some pics of it but i forgot my camera. i think i am going to go ahead and buy it but i am going to go there and offer him less. i figure his attitude might change if cash is waving in front of his face you know what i mean? but overall it seems like an alright start. james has no reason to lie to me being he doesn't even really know the kid that owns it and i know he wouldn't lie to me about a car being a good start unless it were true so i am going back monday to pick her up
