newb with some simple ?s

whats up guys, nice place

im just looking around to learn about these cars because with gas prices getting rediculous i need a reliable 4 cyl commuter, and i hate fwd. so here i am, im pretty set on picking one of these up, just had a few questions if anyone would care to answer them.

do they make a 240sx in convert post 95?

im lookin for an auto, should i stick pre 95 or post, and which gets better milage, i would guess post, also which is more reliable as a daily driver?

im not lookin to drift or do any of that, or spice it up, i dump all my money into bikes.

anyhow, nice place, lots of info. thanks in advance for any feedback and advice.

welcome

Converts were only in s13's (s13 is 89-94, 94 is all automatic convertibles)

Doesn't really matter which you get, if they were taken care of and aren't beat you should get about the same mileage in any 240.

As for reliablity it all depends on how the car was taken care of before you, 240's can last a long *** time.

well i was wondering what kinda changes they made mechanically for the 95 + model, if it became more reliable and if it gets better efficiency

i was thinking they only made them 89-94 because i couldnt find a single 95+ convert, i see them get to 200k regularly, so i think if i get one around 100k or less ill be very satisfied

thanks for the info

The only real difference is that some 1995's and then from 1996-1998 all the vehicles were OBDII, other than that mechanically they are pretty much the same

240 is a great car... but its not the best for gas milage.

The KA is a stroker engine, it dumps in extra fuel in the early RPMs. If you get on it, you can literaly watch the gauge go down ... but i wouldn't know because i always watch the road

BTW if you know how to do it right, a 5-speed always gets better gas mileage than an automatic.

2 cents.

no matter what it will get better milage than almost any other rwd car on the road, i hate front wheel drive more than an eskimoe hates soy, seriously. no matter what it will be better than my jeep. yeah i know a manual will get better milage, but im also fairly particular about manuals, dont much care for them in a commuter vehicle

thanks for more info guys.

anything in particular i should look for problems with on a an s13 convert or a non convert auto? i know fluids cold start take it out and put it through the ringer yadda yadda, im know a little bit, but im curious if they have a particular problem that is reoccuring that i should watch out for. thanks again
