Newbie checking in

Been trolling and searching for a while now. Thought Id finally go ahead and sign up.

I have an 89 240 coupe SOHC 5 speed. I havent driven the car yet, infact I just got it running for the first time a few days ago. Im really not in a huge rush to get it on the road, its a 5th vehicle and 3 of them are toys.

I also have a 03.5 MazdaSpeed Protege' that my wife drives mosty, (Ill start playing w/ it when the warrantee is up and she gets something else to drive ) an Isuzu Trooper that I drive to and from work, a fullsize Blazer on 39.5 inch tires (mud toy) , an 83 Toyota truck thats under construction thatll have all Chevrolet stuff (engine, tranny, transfer case, axles, 4 link suspension, caged) and sit on 39.5s also when finished (insane mud toy) and now the 240.

Yeah Im pretty much an automotive addict.

Thanx for the welcome. I really should thin the herd on my toys. I also have a 3rd gen Camaro that I was doing and lost intrest in a few yrs back. I need to just get rid of that one. It was supposed to be a street strip car, the motor ended up going into the Blazer and intrest in it sorta died. The Blazer may or may not live after I finish the Yota, if I do keep it itll end up being dropped about 6 inches and used for a tow vehicle to tow the Yota around. The MSP I LOOOVE, that one will be around a while. Handles great, decent power (w/more untapped power waiting to be tuned) looks good, and have so far beat up on 2 Integras a few Civics, a Z28 and "held my own" pretty well against my brothers built WRX. (translation, I didnt get beat too badly. LOL!) Fun *** little car.

Anyhow, Ive enjoyed working on the 240 so far. After stripping everything off that doesnt need to be there to make it run, its pretty clean under the hood. LOL! I actually "inherited" the 240 from my brother who didnt have time to finish it. He pulled the motor and freshened it up. While it was apart I ported the upper and lower intakes and shaved/ smoothed the upper of all the little cast on brackets that werent needed anymore. I also ditched the seconadry butterflies in the lower. It idles a bit rough, but nothing Im not used to w/ the Blazer. (its idled at 12-1300 and still lopes) Im hoping to wrap up the mechanical stuff this week after work, then Ill start on the body. BTW, Im a mechanic at my dads shop and up until 2 yrs ago I was a heavy collision tech. Ive always been around cars mechanically, then spent close to 15 yrs doing dody and paint, so theres not much I havent done on a car. LOL! I just got tired of the "business" end of the collision biz and finally went back to work for dad. And for those doing the math Im in my 30s...I just refuse to grow up.

HAHA! Thats cool.

The brother I got the 240 from, his wife is the first of her moms family born outside of Okinowa. (sp) I have the hardest time understanding her mom and shes been here 30 yrs. HAHA! At their wedding a BUNCH of her family flew over and some were in the wedding, in full Okinowan ceremonial dress. Pretty awesome. They just smiled a lot and nodded their heads yes.
