Talking Noob!

Hello everyone, just thought I would check in. My name's Paul and I am planning on starting a project car. The 240 has always been a dream car for me to work on so thats what im here to learn about.

As of right now I plan to get an 89 240sx and do a VG30DETT block swap( still undecided ), and go from there. Like I said im new to these cars so I'll probably be asking a bunch of questions after I cant find what I need to know though the serach button.

I currently drive a stage 2 '04 WRX DD, the 240 would be my conversion project and my goal is to get it to around 450 rwhp.

Thats all for now!

Welcome to the forums. The VG swap is rally tough, and expensive. If you really are considering it, then I suggest searching for a guy that has all ready done the swap here and talking to him about it.

thanks! yea thats what im seeing, I am also considering the RB25DET, or of course the SR20DET. Would you consider the latter 2 swaps to be pretty straight forward?

Just still learning the pros and cons of these choices and what they can safely be pushed to power wise.

welcome. the guy that i know of who has done the VG30 is an Australian fella by the name of 'dusky'. as far as the other two engines:

SR20DET -> straight up drop in affair
RB25DET -> needs a bit more work

It's only like 10 mins from my house so more than likely I will be there, I doubt it will be as crazy as it was though when it was in carlisle

Sil pretty much hit it on the head, SR..just need to do the wiring, and MAYBE the lines. RB25...much more work. Search around the engine swaps forum and you will find EXACTLY what you need

if you are krazy enough to do vg30... try a rb26det(t) with awd... haha jk abuot the awd part... but rb26det ... they say you can only have one turbo... so this would be like wasting money but it would be cool... i wonder if it s possibly to have an awd 240 with a rb26dett yesss awd with twin turbo...

Mckinney made mounts for the RB26 so you can actually keep the twin turbo set up
