speedo too fast

Hey guy. I'm new here but just wanted to say this is a great website. I just bought a 1990 240sx xe with 141,000. It is an auto, only bad thing, but for the price I was not complaining. I bought it because it was supposed to have a bad motor. Thanks to this website I found out it was just a bad a fuel injector.

Ok, so I still have a problem I can't figure out. When the car is not moving, the digital speedometer shows 7mph, and when I rev it up, it goes to 40. The odometer is moving the whole time relative to the speed shown. It seems to be quite a bit off when I drive down the road also. The HUD did not work when I first drove the car, but when I went to go put tires on the car today, it was working. Is this the capacitor that is bad, or is the speed sensor? Also, does the analog cluster work with the HUD? I prefer analog displays, but I love the HUD.

Thanks for the great website, and alot of really good info. I really liked the article that talks about the different motors and explains them. I know about mazda 4 cylinders, but I did not know much about nissan, but this made it all clear to me. Now if I could get the fiancée to let me swap in SR20DET and a manual transmission...
