Name: Peter aka sp33drac3r

why they call me sp33drac3r? cuz i got pulled over doing 125 in a 25mph zone...uhmm trust me i don't ever plan on doing that again...i like tracks alot more now

Car: 92 240sx fastback, bone stock rite now...saving up for the sr20det

uhmm yea...i've been working on some electricals and audios in my car but other then that not much more.

bienvenido a los foros. haha, en espanol, even! seriously, welcome aboad. i noticed a lot of people are like "sr20 this and sr20 that" lately. have you looked into other motor swap possibilities? or are u unaware of other possible powerplants? just wondering...

you kno i've thought about the RB20 but i heard that it makes the car nose heavy and the cost in the transplant is prett high. the sr20 is alot easier to drop in and compared to the rb20 its alot cheaper from my understanding ...correct me if i'm worng please...cuz if its cheaper i'd go that way. besides the rb20 the sr20 and ca18 what other options are there?

btw thanks for the welcome everyone!

i'm not sure about how much the rb20 would upset the weight distribution, but i've learned that by relocating the battery to the trunk and appropriately tuning the suspension, the difference is practically negligible. also, the rb20 drops in a bit easier than u might think. holla @ -HyJynX- about that one, since he's in the middle of swapping one in as we speak. and the price? here's what i found from flashoptions.com:

redtop (cheapest of sr20's) sr20det front clip: $1850.00
redtop swap kit (basically motor, trans, ecu, etc): $1150.00
rb20det front clip: $1250.00

i'm pretty sure that it's the same story at other companies. i would have quoted more comparisons, but i couldn't get to a few websites (heavythrottle.com and unstable-hybrids.com seem to be down at the moment). venus auto has rb20 front clips listed at $1500.00 + shipping.

as far as what other motor swap options? the other "most sensible" would be the rb25det. what i mean by "most sensible" is swaps that could be done with a reasonable amount of money and effort. beyond that scope are: rb26dett (or rb26det single turbo conversion; search the forums for the reason why if u don't know), 2jzgte, small block chevy V8, mazda 13b rotary, vg30de(tt), vq35de, or whatever else u've got the money, time, tools, and know-how for...
