yup im new

hey all im new to this forum(if u couldnt already figure that out)

i dont currently own a 240...however..if all goes well i will before the end of the week

my current car is a 91 celica gt that i have done a few things with but hope to do some more serious modifications to the 240...i have also done some work on my friends' 240...who is also new to this forum...jab11185

anyway id like to start by asking a quick newbie question....with some use of the wonderous search tool i have found that most ppl prefer an exedy or act clutch...since the act is a little out of my price range, where does the exedy fall in comparison to a stock nissan clutch? how does it perform under a beeting? i ask because the 240 i am buying needs a new clutch right away....so i plan to do at least a little upgrade.

thanx

welcome to the board. automotively, i'm a dumbass, so i'm not sure how an Exedy clutch would rate next to a stocker. not to worry though, someone here knows.

hi, i am new as well, but here is my take on exedy vs. stock (not on 240 but on WRX, but it should be similar)

exedy will grab earlier and will not slip as easy as stocker. us WRX people are cursed with weak @ss transmittion so putting an after market clutch in stock transmittion puts a lot more load into the transmition and kaboom the gear breaks when it is driven really hard (well even with stock clutch the gears go kaboom, but less chance due to clutch slipping). Since it seems like you are tight on budget, I'd suggest going with the stockers for now until you can upgrade it. good luck with your project.
