Trade? Your 240sx plus cash for my modified 300zx tt

Hi all, i am interested in possibly trading my 1991 pearl white 300zx tt with 84k miles for a 240sx in good shape plus cash. Preferably i'd like the 240 to have an SR, KA, or RB turbo engine although i would consider non-turbos as well. No twin turbos please, they cost too much to maintain. If i wanted a tt, i'd keep the Z :-) I am looking to do this some time between one to two months from now.

Right now my car needs new turbos, so they are going to be replaced and several parts (including the turbos) will be upgraded during this job. This is why i need to wait a month before i'm ready to do the trade.

When it's finished, at a minimum it would have new Garrett T28 turbos, G Dupree split downpipes, RPS lightweight flywheel and 6 puck max series clutch, a front-mounted intercooler with appropriate intake to fit with it, a tuned ECU (probably AshSpec), HKS type-0 turbo timer and probably a hicas eliminator. These parts will all be new. I think i will set the car to run at 14 lb of boost, but not sure yet. If i go with 14 pounds, i'd expect it to be just slightly under 400rwhp. It will keep its stock look and be a total sleeper. When all is done, this job alone will cost about $5000-6000 (depending on details yet to be worked out). I may very well wind up doing some more mods than what's listed.

Ideally, i'd like to get a 95+ 240sx or a pre-95 hatchback only, either way in nice condition inside and not too flashy of an exterior (although some body kits are ok). Black is best, but that's totally flexible. Manual trans. is a MUST, and mechanically the car should be in good shape and need little if anything. No incomplete projects please. I don't want to spend much time going through mods with the 240 like i'm doing with the Z. I don't want anything slammed too low, or anything that is set up as a hardcore drift car (gutted, etc.) All work should be professional quality and not messy.

I owe money on my 300zx and i'd like to pay it off so i'm not interested in any even trades. Let me know what you have, how much you have in mind to pay/trade for the Z, and we'll go from there. I would strongly prefer that you're within a reasonable driving distance of NJ, zip 07052 to make things simpler.

My email is thi.samsara@gmail.com.

I know it's early, but working out a trade could take some time anyway, so i just thought i'd put this out there and see what kind of interest there is. Thanks.

Hey guys, thanks both for your replies. I can't find the cable to connect the camera to my computer, give me a few days and i'll have some more pics.

It will look slightly different after the work is done though. The main things are the FMIC, and also i decided to get an HKS Hi-power exhaust so that will go on it as well.

Just in case it doesn't make sense why i'm modifying the Z only to get rid of it, let me clarify, because i got a couple emails that made it seem like i am somehow anxious to get rid of it. I LIKE THE Z. It's just expensive to own. But if i don't get a trade i like, or if i'm gonna lose a lot of money, i'll just keep my Z for now. No sense in getting rid of it to save money, if it's going to cost me money to change to a 240 :-)

Yes, i would say it's about 2x the cost of maintaining/modding an inline-4 and still considerably more than most i-6's (unless they're tt) . There really is 2 of everything to buy - dual exhaust componenes, 2 turbos (which are crammed so tightly that you have to pull the motor to get to them), etc. And the thing is heavy and powerful, so it can really make short work of tires. But that's the price of enjoying the car i guess. Oh, and it can use up a LOT of gas if you're boosting all the time. On the plus side, i think it's very reliable if taken care of right.

I found out a wonderful piece of news the other day - I WILL NOT HAVE TO REPLACE THE TURBOS! Turns out the sound was coming from something else, possibly the precats (the exhaust piece just off the turbos, which the downpipes will replace). That being the case, i'll be saving ~$2500. Oh, and i installed my FMIC myself the other day, which saved another several hundred over what i was going to have to pay.

IF i get a very interesting trade i might still let it go, but honestly at this point i'm kind of leaning toward keeping it because i won't owe much money on it at all and i think i can get it to around 380 rwhp without doing anything with the turbos. I'll see...

I found the cable to my camera. Instead of mailing pics to individuals i'd like to put them on a website which hosts photos for free and just put a link on here. Does anyone know a website that i can use? If not i'll just look for one, but let me know if you guys know of something.

What??!! This thing just threw me off... ok, i'm inexperienced with this message board and don't know why this happened, but that previous post that was put up by "darius" is the same person as "wadiad" - i'm the one who put up the original post. Just wanted to clarify that in case it threw anyone else off too. I don't know what name will come up with this one but i'd hope it doesn't give me a 3rd name :-)
