Just wanted to chime in and mention how pleased I am with my purchase from Japan Motor Import.

The motorset was well prepared for shipping wrapped up in superman strength saran wrap and then strapped to a sturdy pallet. Shipping from them to Connecticut only took 6 business days. It would have been 4 if the freight company didnt have to hand the package off to a company with a smaller truck, but I had to be honest and tell them a Semi wouldnt make it down my road! Yellow Freight was very accomodating and the day after it was received at their hub, they delivered it to a local shipper Friday morning. I recieved it this morning (monday).

The engine is very clean and looks to be in excellent condition. Upon removing the valve cover there was some condensation and the cams/rockers had corroded slightly, but this corrosion rubbed away easily with a rag. I removed the spark plugs, poured oil all over the drivetrane and into the cylinders and down the timing chain. I turned over the flywheel by hand and felt nothing strange.

The turbo has minimal shaft play. Maybe 1mm side to side, and no in-out. well within tolerance for a good long time. There engine itself is very clean. It wasnt cleaned before shipping, but it wasnt an oily mess either. It appeard to have been on the road very little. I can't find any evidence of oil leaks or previous owner neglegance.

The oil pan is dented so I have to bang that out but I knew to not be suprised by that. probably happened during shipping. While its off im going to be replacing the rod bearings as well weather it needs it or not. Im also sure there's condensation in the crank case, so it can air out while i replace the bearings too.

I'm certain there's nothing to worry about. You just cant keep an engine in a junkyard for years then in storage for more years and expect there to be no moisture getting inside.

Things to consider before purchasing, the motorsets do not come with an ignitor, maf or intercooler. You need to provide these yourself, however theyre easy to source.

As an added bonus, I got a literally brand new clutch and flywheel! Obviously we dont know why they were replaced, but I'm not complaining

Here's a couple photos:

new flywheel up close, you can see the turning from manufacture. The inside of the pressure plate looks the same.

my clutch disk.

Im not trying to say you'll get a new clutch if you buy a motorset from JMI, but you never know!

Thanks again, Rob!

You need igniter chip, MAF sensor, intercooler and piping assembly, which are going to cost you a little more money to be included in your package.
Igniter chip $100.00
MAFS $100.00
Stock intercooler assembly $50.00
