Digital Speedometer
So I just got a starter installed in my car after it left me stranded in the middle of nowhere, but after it got installed, my digital speedometer went out and the mechanic really didn't know what happened (nor did I ). Would anyone know anything about how to fix this, how much it costs, how much time, etc.??
Thanks
P.S. It's a 1992 240SX SE

When you drive, does your odometer work? If not, check the wiring from the speed sensor at the back of the tranny up into the main harness... It runs right past the starter, easy to bump/damage...

Yeah, I did get the problem fixed. Apparently, it's a part that costs about $185, but I'm not sure what the name of the part is because my brother's mechanic knew right away what was wrong. Unfortunately, he did not relay the part name/information.

well, it's not the speed sensor on my car, i hooked it up to a voltmeter and took it for a drive and it worked fine.
Now I have to get to the head-up display computer and assume to do that I have to remove the instument panel/glareshield assembly. Anyone have any tips on removing this?

Thanks for the help, and to the guy that took his post off. I was on the road and have only just got back and now have the instrument cluster out. I've checked for voltages and signal from the servo, all good, so it's looks like a duff speedo.
NeuAgeRacing, do you have the complete instrument cluster for sale or just the HUD computer?

So it doesn't work at all?! Or... it works sometimes?!...
If it works after car warms up then it might be one of the capacitors.

When the gauge or the battery has been disconnected for a while then reconnected, it lights up when the key is turned to the 'run' position for about 3 seconds then fades away. It doesn't come back on when the car has been running for a while or after I heated up the capacitor.
