LSD- J30 or aftermarket???

I'm looking for an LSD for drifting purposes......duh. The prices of aftermarket LSD's are crazy. I can get a infiniti J30 to fit for about 250 bucks, less than a 3rd of the cheapest aftermarket one. I'm just worried that it may not be good enough. I'm considering the fact that a j30 would have probably been babied since you don't really see that many Infiniti drifters . But will it have enough torque to push me through the turns? I know that it won't last forever and it won't be as strong as an aftermarket one. But will it be good enough? Anyone tried it??? Thanx

It should be enough for your purpose...but im sure you will upgrade later on down the road to a clutch type LSD right?

250 now, $1k later, or $1k now?
Depends how bad you want it. Do some searches on the differences and side for yourself. I paid $900 for my 2way clutch lsd and I love it!

Crap, I didn't know that J30 was viscous. Getting it would be a waste. I'll just have to save up for a aftermarket one. Anyone know of good cheap ones? That was an oxymoron wasn't it?

I've had my Kaaz for about 6-8k miles and I love it! It was about the cheapest, but most of the 2way were around the same price.

I'm pretty sure that's viscous. To my understanding all Nissan OEM LSDs are viscous, until the S15. So aftermarket is the way to go.

I say go with an aftermarket.. not worth spending the money on a vlsd unless your worried about noise.. I have a kaaz 2 way and its awsome.

Bahraini 240sx there is a kit from KAAZ i believe that turns an open to a 2 way i think someone help me out if im wrong. I have a J30 diff and i drift somewhat regularly and i have never had any problems with it i changed the diff oil out with royal purple and will plan on changing it out every year BUT i do see your point with the 2 way LSD and i believe KAAZ is the cheapest so if you are learning to drift i would get the J30 and then save up and then get a 2way LSD ...BUT thats my opinion

I do have some of those locking things to make a open diff into a closed closed. Can't remember the name right now and I'm not sure if it works in FWD and RWD... I'll check if want me to. I know that it doesn't wear out and it isn't hard to do in a pumkin compared to a FWD tranny.
