review: HKS wastegate actuator
Kit comes with everything you need except simple hand tools. Instructions are in Japanese, but looking at the diagrams and the chart was enough for me to install it. Easy install, only difficulty was the space restrictions (I installed it without removing the turbo inlet or anything, just had to deal with a bit tighter space).
Pro:
-increased boost for cheap (~$55 retail vs. ~$100 for manual boost controller and $300+ for electronic)
-easy to install
Con:
-adjustment for boost is the length of the 2-piece threaded actuator rod, so if you want to change boost levels, you have to wait overnight for the exhaust housing to cool off or use oven mitts
-boost adjustment is in 1.5psi increments
If I had to do it again, I would have probably gotten a DNA or Turbo-XS manual boost controller for a little more money. Good product though, helps spool the turbo a hair quicker as well (hard to tell with that tiny T25 )
