Let me throw a number out there~ $10K. Perhaps a bit over the top, but to get quality work you gotta pay top $ (unless it's your buddy's shop). You gotta cut the top off, fab/fix up the edges where you cut, reinforce the bottom of the chassis so your car doesn't crumple like aluminum foil in an accident, and rig up some sort of cloth top (for those 2 days of the year it actually rains in AZ). Then you gotta repaint all the areas that you've worked on. I'm sure there are even more details that I'm not mentioning, but any way you do it it's going to cost you serious dough. Why spend that much on the automotive equivalent of a boob job? Just be happy with what you got or get something else... that my $.02 anyway.

Well, in my opinion.. $10K is nothing really. I'd rather have a nice car still, but different from all the other S14s. I know, it sounds kind of odd because everyone is not used to seeing them. I do like the S13 convertables, don't get me wrong. I just hate looking at them, because everyone that owns them (around here anyway) does not take care of them. Never get oil changes regularly, etc. It's a disgrace.

I'm not even 50% sure if I would go through with all that custom work. It was just something to think about. I think a custom S14 convertable would look cool if done right. It would be fun to take to shows.

If 10K is nothing really then go for it, and buy another s14 to drive while that one is in the shop, money is no problem, didn't know you where a baller like that!

yeh, I mean not trying to tell you what to do. Definitely your car and your money. I would agree with you that a S14 convertible would look cool, and would probably be a show winner. I just personally wouldn't want to be the one to the one to do it... (I rolled a del Sol once, so I stay away from verts now...). If you do decide to go through with it, get it done right and safe~ and keep us updated!

Some guy made a eclipse a targa top and he had to put some extremely hardcore roll cage in it and it still bends like a ***** when he goes over bumps.
