this is not much of a mod but it will help. replacing your thermostat with one with a lower temp will allow your car to run a bit cooler and perform better.
as far as painting stuff try not to paint too much stuff, it will only make it look tacky. i painted a few things in my interior. but nothing too facy just the same color of the car or my seats.

ya just to chime in on that auto resistor.... yeah well i tried this on my 91 coupe and it actually works if you have a pretty bad auto tranny already beat up and slipping alot but actually all it is it is exactly what you said it is a resistor the actually lowers the pump pressure in the trans...
by unpluging it the computer for your tranny kinda freaks out and flashes your o/d light like crazy gives you codes.... but all it does is rasie your line pressure in your trans therefore giving you "harder shifts"....
but what sucks is even when you don't want it to shift hard or rough it will so it this "mod" if you want to call it that is def hard on your trans... thats why i plugged mine back in so i could make my 185K tranny last as long as possible....
also one last thing if you do unplug it make sure your car ISNT running.... okay thats all i have to say about that... have fun guys
