Paint...

My '95 looks pretty beat and is in serious need of a paint job, i have a greddy lip, Eastbear grill and spec K wing. they are not painted and are not on the car, also i have a doorskin. My car is that greenish purple color that changes in the sun. Does anybody know how much the actual paint costs... and how much it would cost to put the doorskin on? i haven't went to a bodyshop yet becuz i have no clue how much the doorskin would cost and i dont wanna get ripped off. pictures will be up as soon as i get the car painted.

Best thing for you to do is to go to all the body shops in the area and get estimates, and find which one has the best price. I would reccomend going to a respectable shop since you dont really know a whole lot about body work. I myself, know a little bit but not alot about body work and can tell the difference from crap and good body work. This is where you get what you pay for....

I have a pet peave against bad body work. I try to look for a shop that has done previous body work on custom cars and see the outcome and longevity of that paint to some degree. I try to see if the paint shop properly prepares the car which is half the battle and then look at the quality after the painting.

Try to look and see a finished car and see if they are any waves in the paint or any type of uneveness of the paint color or any defects in the paint, such as things getting in (particles of dirt, etc.) Remember in this game, you get what you pay for, but it is also easy to get ripped.

Pearled paints would be a difficult match as well.

Are you looking to just color match the bodyparts or give the whole car a sprucing up?

i know about body work... my car is actually prepped as we speak, i was wondering if it would be easy to go buy the paint myself? I meant the actual paint... liek per pint or however they measure it. never had to do it b4 and i dont wanna get ripped off. and yes, i am spraying the entire car over. engine bay and inside of trunk too. whenever i get this thing done i will post pics, i think it'll come out alright... i hope!

I really don't know how much paint is needed. A good body job if the body is in decent condition is about $1500 with clearcoat.
