project: paint my 240 UPDATE.. with pics :)
Well as most of you know, i had to start driving my 240 sooner than expected, right in the middle of prepping it for paint. Yeah, it was an ugly beast, but it got me where i needed to go, and is still fun to drive. BUT i was tired of ppl raggin on my car, saying it looked diseased. Well, i decided i would fill what dents i could and pant it, piece by piece.
Heres where the pics come in.
I dont have any full on shots of what the car looked like, but here's a taste of what the damage was.
The hatch came off of a red car obviously. Here you can see some of the primer and some experiments with gloss black from a rattle can... not pretty.
Well i started to attack a dent from the previous owner... it was pretty deep and in a very bad area... but bondo cures many wounds right?
I didnt have any pics of before the bondo.. but you get the picture. I painted it, and i have yet to get a pic of it... i want it to be FINISHED by the time i post a pic... i need to do some finishing putty to it.
So the next thing i wanted to tackle was the hatch... which looked like it had some sort of advanced leprecy... And at that point i decided to do a temp paint job on the car... using rattle can flat black.. and primer of course. So here's the result on the hatch.
Not too shabby, eh?
So the next thing that bothered me was the wierd splotches of bare metal and primer, so i did most of the passenger's side of the car. I wet sanded it with 320 grit paper, washed it down and then shot it with sandable primer, again from a rattle can. i also did the front fender, but it was too dark out after it dried to take a pic... oh well youll see tomorrow
Okay so its no beauty queen... but a great improvement.
Flat black = teh stealth/sleeper And i like it that way... plus flat black looks sexy on s13s
