sleepy eye option? would this work?

well i was playing on ebay like usual and i came across this ............http://cgi.ebay.com/PIVOT-Pop-up-Hea...QQcmdZViewItem

i was reading their install instructions and it hit me..why couldnt we use justa standard volume **** from radio shack to adjust the voltage to the motor from the timer? wouldnt that work the same as this 96 dollar "kit"..they even slip up in the instructions and refer to it as a volume adjust....you can buy a potentiometer, "volume adjust ", from radio shack for like 3 bucks..and this companys install even tells you how to hook it up? any input on this? thoughts? problems with this? let me know what yall think?

i dont really know what you just said... but it sounds good if it means a cheap headlight controller. Try it out, and take lots of pics and a writeup!!

basically why couldnt we use a volume ****, otherwise known as a potentiometer, to control the voltage from the headlight timer to the headlight motor? it looks like the pilot unit is just that, a volume adjust...should work the same but about 99 bucks cheaper

you would need one heavy duty pot. or a hell of alot of fuses im assuming. im not sure how many volts are running through the lines there, but i bet its not just a little bit.

i do not think adjusting the voltage to the timer would do anything, you have to change the time the timer is on, you could build a small board and get it to work right, the timer does not rely on voltage to time it. the voltage stays the same (12v)

If you decide to try it, get some mashmallows, cuz its FIRE whats gona come out of your dash board. When I was a kid, I played with one of these, and it caught fire with a 9v square battery. Don't play with it, you'll sure in hell burn the living crap out of your dash. If you're gona try it, hook it up with another resistance inseries, so that almost none of the work is made by it. And the KIT comes wiht :sensors, a rotative sensor, swiches, wiring, fuses, etc. Its not just a ****
